I seem to have the opposite experience to many here. I have fitted carbon wheels to my rail and the difference is night and day, one of the best upgrades I’ve done.
I think the gen4 must have voltage compensation, so amps are increased as voltage drops/battery flattens. So whilst you might be getting similar percentages between bars, the power pixies being pulled out for each km are larger, so you get less range for each passing bar.

It amazes me the price of second hand ebikes bearing in mind i think only Specialised offer transferable warranties. Not sure i'd spend 1000's on a bike with no warranty, bearing in mind all the issues ebikes have.
Alternatively couldn't you take it to a local Focus dealer, or even just a Bosch dealer?

I have the same, 27.5 more fun in the right conditions, feesl better down really steep tech stuff but overall I prefer the 29.
They are different bike brands but same motors and batteries, the 29 is a lot better on battery usage too but my 29er is a lot lighter than the 27.5 so it could be that.
