When you convert to coil, do you retain the features associated with better fork levels or do you lose them? For example the Norco Range VLT C1 comes with Fox Factory while the C2 comes with Rockshox Zeb Select. If one Is going to convert, are the Fox forks going to offer any benefit?

^^^^^ This is true. Have already converted my Zeb Select + with Charger 2.1 damper. Feels great but I’m biased as went away from Fox back in 2015 due to service intervals.

I have a Smashpot conversion on my 36 and Lyrik, which replaces just the spring side internals, so if you have a better spec damper on your fork, you get to keep it.

It is the best upgrade ever. Super supple, great mid stroke support and importantly the hydraulic bottom out feature dissipates loads on big impacts so you get no harsh bottoming.
It makes up for non-linearities in the spring curve (for which I felt the 36 benefited most, but it's a worthwhile improvement on both). I think the best way to describe it is that it performs with the suppleness of a fork that has 10mm more travel, but while maintaining the control and support that you already have.
Enjoy!

Coil is always better than air for suspension, especially as the two 'issues' have been sorted ie; linear stroke- adjustable ramp-up system and weight- a non issue on something that you dont even have to 'try' and get up the hill. Your damping system remains unchanged.
