Gary’s diagram doesn’t make it clear what he is saying.
The shorter offset moves the fork further back under the bike. As the head tube is angled moving the fork stanchions back lifts the head tube reducing the effective head angle making the bike ‘slacker’.
The reduction in head angle pretty...
Make sure you measure carefully before cutting the steerer tube[emoji6]
If you are buying second hand make sure the steerer isn’t too short on the forks you are getting as the head tube is quite long on the Jam2, especially the XL.
The field of view is my concern too although the superview effect can be added.
The camera has a ring for attaching magnetic external filters etc so a wide angle or anamorphic attachment will probably become available in time.
Sounds like you have it covered. I did the same on mine.
You could put a longer airshaft in the fork taking it to 150 or 160mm which would raise the front a bit and also give you a bit more travel it would also shorten the effective top tube length marginally.
You can mount it to the same attachments as a GoPro and in the same sort of positions there is no need to hold it.
Most of the popular YouTube first person view MTB channels use gimbal mounted Gopros mixed in with solid mounted views, Singletracksampler, BKXC, Sethsbikehacks, Jordanboostmaster...
It’s not big, and if you are worried about fragility there is a waterproof case available.
It may not be for everyone but if you don’t like the low light glitchy stutter and yaw skip of the Hero 7 Black using hyper smooth this is an alternative worthy of consideration.

You don’t have to spend too long on YouTube too see plenty of examples.
I tried but it seems my distaste for Microsoft products equals yours for Apple’s the format wouldn’t work for me.
No.
You mean you don’t look ahead, round bends etc to see what’s coming?
This device is able to produce...
McTrailrider pioneered mounting the camera below the chin guard on an extension to mimic the view from a chesty. I didn’t imply he invented the idea of attaching a camera to a chin guard.
I too prefer the feel the Hero 7 gives. I however don’t like the glitchy video in low light conditions...
It uses traditional mechanical stabilisation (gimbal) rather than electronic stabilisation as used in the Hero 7 so is not light/image dependent.
Gimbals have traditionally been used on chest mounts to get the view of the bars and the trail ahead in shot.
If you mount a Hero 7 on a chesty the...
This would be a return to a chesty so you could get improved low light stabilisation.
Having said that, you could mount it upside down from your chin guard.
Supposed to be compatible with the usual action cam mounts. Even a waterproof housing. The FPV mode sounds cool as it should give the Hero 7 look down the track feel without the dodgy yaw of the usual gimbals. Face tracking for vloggers will be good too. Field of view might be an issue though...
DJI has just released a new offering, a mini Osmo gimbal.
