Yeah, there are some differences between chemistries and each has their own positives/negatives.
I think this is also the reason for the common bad practice that we see for charging batteries in general.
A lot of people that I've spoken to still think that you're best off running your phone...
Exactly this. When charging my Tesla the same thing happens. I might set it to 80%, then when it finishes it may cool and drop back to, say 78%.
Likewise, on my bike I store the battery in the house between rides. Leaving it in a hot or cold shed is bad for it. I think heat is actually worse...
Ideally you would never charge the battery to 100%, as this is where the battery degrades the fastest. If you're only going for a short ride, or know you will only use, say 50% of the battery, then just charge it to 80%.
Lithium batteries are happiest in the middle of the range. 20% - 80%...
You should be OK with that. Carbon can flex a bit and the stress would be coming through the frame where it's intended to.
It's more if you impact the middle of a bar of the frame from the side, or clamp a carbon frame. Carbon isn't good at resisting clamping forces, unless it's designed to be.
I personally wouldn't use a trailer on a carbon bike. Carbon is very strong in the direction that it's designed to be strong in, but weak in other directions. (Think side impact).
Also, pulling a lot of weight will put additional strain on the drivetrain causing it to wear quicker.
Mostly...
Well they've already dispatched another one - which I'm assured they've carefully checked is the new one.
I suspect someone just didn't check what they were sending properly.
Ah, sounds sensible! I did say to the guy I was speaking to that it surprises me that they have old versions of the latch. You think they'd get rid of them all and just stock the new ones. Even for bikes that don't need the extra strengthening it's bound to be better to have that latch anyway...
Mine should be here Friday, so I'll fit and likely keep Tobias' mod as well to try to strengthen things further.
Hopefully this is the last we hear of any issues or cut outs...
I had assumed Crispy's was from the UK, given the GBP price on it, but mine says it'll arrive 2 - 3 weeks from now, which seems like an eternity, even from Germany.
No, mine hasn't arrived yet - they agreed to send a replacement latch out and said in the same email that they wanted me to take the bike to a Canyon service center to have the top battery mount checked or to box the whole thing up and send it back to them, however I got shot of the box a long...
Ordered mine yesterday, so should have it in a few weeks. (Not sure why it takes so long to post out a tiny part like that, especially if it's coming from the UK.)
Wow, £20 is mental for that bit of plastic. I guess the price is for people who somehow break it themselves or for any of us that...
A bit like your mobile phone. Usually the battery still works, but once the capacity gets below a day, it starts becoming inconvenient because you have to charge multiple times a day. Those that don't have the luxury of buying a new phone can usually still use the phone though... Albeit by...
Yes, I did it in a stand. And mine needs the "b" setting on the key thing, which is what mine was already set to from the factory.
I also made sure the lines on the derailleur mount were all lined up and everything torqued down correctly per the SRAM video. It's just that one gear pretty much.
