    Pic of the Day

Went on a 17 mile ride across Kingley Vale east to West (opposite direction to usual). Kingley Vale - Woodland Trust Really dull day but needed the exercise. No frost yet so the beech trees are slowly shedding their leaves creating a treacherous leaf and mud mulch underneath. The High...

How do I find a black spring for Öhlins?

Ohlins spring is 67mm and Cane Creek says Valt spring is 65mm so just 2mm shorter, worked OK for me at 230x60mm with 2x2.5mm spacers (came with 3x2.5mm spacers).

How do I find a black spring for Öhlins?

Cane Creek Valt Spring - Black is linear, White is progressive. I have Black Valt 65mm (2.5") 500 lb but prefer the (hideous) Ohlins 67mm 525 lb part number 18077-13. Am 74kg on bathroom scales with alloy Trek Rail. Calculators generally say 450-500 lb is ideal for me but I do prefer the...

    Help me decide which bike?

The bike should be replaced, no question.

How did you pay for your bike?

When you retire or otherwise stop working and no longer have so-called earned income from a job, to banks you automatically become a bad credit risk. Even if you don't need your credit cards, hang onto them and spend a bit on each of them every year so that the companies can see some activity...

front brake squeaks when unengaged. Any idea what might be the cause?

Our Rockshox Pike, Lyrik, and Zeb forks don't have pinch bolts, neither did the Rockshox 35 Gold RL forks our 2022 alloy Rails originally came with.

front brake squeaks when unengaged. Any idea what might be the cause?

Three comments from this ^^^ post. 1. When changing tyres always use rotor covers. 2. When changing tyres keep the rotor covers uppermost. 3. When true-ing a rotor take it off the wheel and true it on a sheet of plate glass (which will be dead flat), makes it easy.

    Schwalbe radial tyres

We now have Maxxis Maxxgrip High Roller 3's on our Rails (29 DD front, 29 DH rear), cannot fault them. In South Downs mud even DHR2's quickly turn into slicks whereas the HR3's don't. Would be interesting to compare them with Schwalbe Albert/Shredda.

How long does your chain last?

Was thinking back to that yesterday. Buy 126 link XTR chains then cut a bit off, bloody silly. Would be great if could buy chain by the metre.

Shimano ep6rs a bit rattly at times over bumps?

You're probably riding the bike harder than you used to - the harder you ride the noisier everything gets. Also, a lot of trails seem to have got bumpier where heavy rain has washed cover away leaving stones/flint increasingly revealed. Certainly the case in South Downs where we ride, some...

    Dji avinox- Amflow

My wife is 'medical' and brings home all the nasty stuff her patients have. Month ago had a really nasty head cold/flu/covid/wtf infection that took 2 weeks to shake off. I'm full of holes from all the vaccinations I've had but made no difference. 😞

Trouble is that water will probably enter through the new seams. 🤔

What did you buy your ebike this week?

23 miles today with wife in South Downs muck and mud with dry patches covered with leaves, loose stones and flint, and everything else in between with rear High Roller 3 DH's and front High Roller 3 DD's. No clogging, no loss of grip, and roll surprisingly well. Will probably leave fronts on...

    Other Discounted spare batteries

Few months ago picked up a couple of Bosch Powertube Vertical 625Wh batteries for our 500Wh Rails at £405 each delivered which seemed to be a reasonable price. Just sayin'.
