Which goes first, the chicken or the egg ?

Curious bunch aren’t we ! Haha 😛 Seriously though in reference to the main crank seals n bearings. (1) Do the bearings get pounded out and then the seals go or (2) do the seals go first eventually letting contaminates in taking out the bearings ? 😳 Ya I know it can be either but generally which...

I’m Out , not only out but screwed ! 😱

Since it’s going to be a while before this problem is solved I decided drop the motor and to split the cases… You guessed it moisture in fine droplets inside the case on everything ! 🤨 The plot thickens… 🧐

Mikerb I need item number 1 part # 2 X1V–83500–00 METER ASSY. As you can see it’s only available complete and they are calling it a meter assembly. I broke the up button when I crashed into a snowbank. End view of buttons with obvious sharp edges where I have snagged my gloves before.

I’m Out , not only out but screwed ! 😱

Now here is the kicker about the whole deal, the controller might be just fine ! 🤭 Yeps it might just be a coincidence and the real problem may yet be the torque sensor or motherboard in the motor. 😱” Unfortunately you cannot not swap a motherboard (even if I found one) as they are keyed into...

I’m Out , not only out but screwed ! 😱

Apac this is the way All ebikes function as far as I know. The controller is The brains of every motor, without it your outta luck. Even though some units may have integrated switches right in the display, it’s still the same story.

Anyone come up with a way to completely seal the main crank bearings ?

Since there is Soo many talented peeps on this board I was wondering if anyone has invented or found a way to stop water n grit from destroying the motor bearings ? Dirt bikes have been around for years and they have it nailed down I don’t understand why ebike manufacturers haven’t unless it’s...

I’m Out , not only out but screwed ! 😱

Apac the controller ( display and buttons) are the brains of everything. Without it the motor will not even turn over. As far as waterproofing goes all our bikes are weak , if not through the controller , the main crank bearings will do you in, it’s just a matter of time unless you ride your...

Stihldog the biggest concern I have about buying another new ride is the motor water ingress problem on EVERY brand currently available 😶 I don’t know if Yamaha has addressed that issue on their new pw-x-3 motor or not ? Water water everywhere ! Seriously I no longer consider any ebike reliable...

I’m Out , not only out but screwed ! 😱

No rats it’s the X display and of course the connectors are completely different on a Yamaha branded bike . Plus your right the display is attached with the control buttons by a wire that is not detachable. 😑 I also looked to see if the new controller that is used with the newv pw-X-3 motor...

I’m Out , not only out but screwed ! 😱

Who would ever thought riding in snow would screw your bike over, I sure didn’t ! After one of many crashes my bars on the left side got buried in the snow. After remounting I attempted to ride and immediately got a flashing red light and fault code. I turned the bike off n on to no avail...

    Pedaling resistance with motor off

I happened to come across this posted on Avdweb.nl. https://www.avdweb.nl/solar-bike/hub-motor/yamaha-pw-sx2 “Most mid-drive motors (like the Bosch) have just one freewheel, this is used for pedaling without turning the motor. With just a single freewheel, the motor can never drive the rear...

    Frame Only bike build?

You might be better off selling just the motor if it’s in excellent condition. It would be less time consuming and less hassles especially since you planned on selling the completed bike. Just a thought. 🤔

Buy a complete new bike and use old one for spares ? .

Yamaha x-2 the one used by Yamaha in their branded bikes. Apparently the Yamaha motors used in non Yamaha branded bike ie; Hiabike, Giant etc.have different connectors that will not fit. X1V-17061-11-00 DRIVE UNIT ASSY (Yamaha)

Trousers that fit knee pads or at least aren't like leggings

Hmmm I’m notsure if your actually looking for 100% waterproof or not. If you want bulletproof pants with all kinds of room that included leg zippers that open right up to the knees and have a leg length you can custom cut to fit. The pants are designed as an overpant to wear over your shorts...

Buy a complete new bike and use old one for spares ? .

Gary you are right in an ideal world, but currently it seems everything is upside down. I have had a spare motor on order now for over six months with no delivery date insight, perpetual back order. Some other parts “batteries and motor controllers/sensors/cables are available if you look hard...

Buy a complete new bike and use old one for spares ? .

Since we are on the cutting edge of the magical ebike Industry no bike seems to be free from developmental issues. Having said that buying spares if you can find them, is a huge guessing and waiting game. Plus buying each part separately can quickly become expensive. You figure just a spare...
