Despite having rear mechs with clutches, the chains still bounce around underneath like crazy. Watch any video. More weight has to be more stress on that mech. Also I imagine a heavier chain would be slightly slower and harder shifting for the mech?
I posted this somewhere else, but here probably makes more sense. I've dismantled forks and cleaned them for the 50hr service (have done about 120hrs). The oil on the air side was dirtier. The foam rings were black! I clean stanchions before every ride - is that normal or are the seals letting...
Can this be done for a rockshox 35 gold 140mm? It came on a merida 2020 model e140. I'm not sure I understood the video - I assume it's different to just adding a token or two?
Update: no, this won't work on my fork Rockshox 35 Gold RL Disassemble Whats Inside?- Mtbr.com
I'm just doing a 50hr service (@120hrs) on my rockshox 35 gold. The foam rings were black. They are reasonably clean now, but I'd really like new rings. I imagine I will be replacing these every time. Does anyone know where I can buy these in bulk? Some places have bags of 20, but none that I...
that would be the way to do it - with a dedicated bracket, off road motorcycle style. That one above looks pretty steep - that is often a cause for tipping too (foot isn't far out enough). It's something that is generally discussed with adventure riders - heavy motorcycles with high COG; hence...
That bike frame can't go smaller with the stack height (22") because of the wheels (27.5); 29" would be worse. See that medium frame in the photos - that is for someone 5'6". Anyone smaller is going to have the handlebars higher than the seat - this is going to be more pronounced the shorter...
That's an on road high speed cornering machine - it would need speed and the right corners to come into it's own. Maybe downhill with corners? Down a mountain :) . Mmmm, that photo looks oddly symmetrical again...
You're allowed to want a side stand :). I will point out one other problem with off road side / kick stands; they are generally held up with a spring or detent. If you're going over rough ground, as in general mtb riding, the stand can bounce down. It may even stay down. Have a look at off road...
I have the 2020 model e140 LTD (aluminium). I see you're in Aus - merida is one of the best value brands here. I love it. I wanted aluminium because it's easy to live with. I use mine for technical climbing and descending - it suits me well. I removed the tokens from the shock (there are two) so...
Yeah, I just had a look at the map to see where west hobart is. There is some dry stuff there. Top of forest road is one end of it, over to Fiona Allen track in Mt Stewart - most of that area facing the east is dry. I just looked at trail forks to see where red wine is - I imagine you've found...
Your bike will fall over with a kick stand - they always do. It's a percentage question really. Fall over 10% of the time or 20% - that sort of thing. I learnt that when I was a kid. Personally I lie the bike down disc side, or lean it against something with handbrake applied. Handbrake is a...
If you put the bell on the end of a stick and hit the pedestrians with it, that would work for those with hearing difficulties as well as those who hear OK. And you can still say you're using a bell! :)
Sheesh, I'd wait till the trails dried up a bit. You're keen. One of your pedals is missing a pin. I'm a bit OCD. I'm also strangely averse to doing jumps now
Maybe it's part of shimano's ploy to make di2 look more attractive? Yes, their walk mode shits me to tears too. No such system with giant - theirs works no matter what gear you're in.
The chances are, whether you want to ride your acoustic or not, you're probably going to be without your emtb waiting on parts or repair. They're not particularly reliable. Do you want to keep riding when that happens?
I still haven't done preventative maintenance on mine. I'm going to clean the splines on crank and crank arms. Then I'm going to put a drizzle of contact cement (quick grip) around the spline on the crank and put them together. Loctite on the the bolts and torque them normally. Quick grip is...
