I check pins for wiggle pre ride. If I find a loose one, I use a scrubbing brush around it before removing, apply thread locker and return. Haven't lost any :)
I have the V12 pedals and really like them - 2400kms on them now. I bought the aluminium ones - less problematic than nylon or magnesium.
After blasting dust of suspension and dropper with an air mattress pump (foot operated with a nozzle), I wipe down the bits that slide in with iso. Then a light smear of shimano brake oil, work dropper and suspension, then wipe the oil dust solution ring that is left at the height that you...
I'd try to figure out where the problem is first. EG, rule out the wheels. When it doesn't want to go backward, lift up the rear end and try spinning the rear wheel in a backwards direction. Do the same for the front. It could be the gear skipping thing that happens if you're in a high gear -...
It's really sounding like poor reliability. Is it up to us, as the customers, to try and figure out why these failures occur if we're riding and using them as mountain bikes? Although, I still don't understand the current trend of washing bikes. That is a relatively recent backward step that...
that's one good reason. If it isn't a purpose built mullet bike you won't be getting the handling characteristics of a shorter chain stay length - so it kind of seems a pointless exercise unless you want the bum factor and geometry changes.
At least now it is obvious - they display that message overlay during the start of the videos "includes paid promotion". They (esp Steve) seem to be a lot less specialized biassed now too. I suspect this is due to feedback in the comments of quite a few videos from 4 - 6 months ago. I have only...
I've had a 4 month hiatus from the bike. My first riding has been in derby, Tasmania. Prior to the break I was starting to get into black tracks - I'm straight back into them with a nearly bald dhrII on the rear (max terra, over 2,000km) and a dhf in good condition on the front. It's strange...
I think savvy manufacturers know that most folk look to youtube for reviews of mtb and emtb and everything to do with them. Knowing that, I imagine it's where most of the manufacturers advertising dollars are going now. This also means some youtubers are just glorified advertisers.
I don't think people brake hard that often. If I want to brake hard I push my bum right back over the rear wheel and roll my feet back on the pedals - that's for steep country. On the flat I'd probably move back a bit, but not as much. Lots of weight on the rear - more than enough on the front...
I've had mine (an e140 ltd - budget model) for over a year. I've been riding black tracks for a while now, and was starting to get into jumps and drops. I'm back riding again after a 4 month break - so not back into the jumps again yet. I ride for about 3hrs - for me a fair share of technical...
