I'm replacing my rear wheel and my soon to be new hub is a Hope Pro 4 but with an XD Driver but my current cassette is a Sram PG-1230 which I know isn't XD driven. Ordered the wrong hub (kids, don't drink and online shop)
My question is: Can I (or should I) remove the XD driver from my new...
NEW PLAN OF ATTACK
Although the replacement hub is holding up just fine, I've decided to upgrade my back wheel for peace of mind and have ordered wiggle.co.nz | Hope Tech 35W S-Pull - Pro 4 MTB Rear Wheel | Back Wheels which I'll be pairing with a Sram GX Eagle 1x11 system off of my analog bike...
Yup, about 500km on the new hub. Seems to be going fine but I'll admit my confidence isn't back 100%
Hope there was just a small batch of dud hubs that slipped through quality control...
I was mid cassette and Eco+, was going up a little pinch, shoulda been in a lower gear but no way on earth should that pop a hub.
Don't think I've ever used the 50t. may put the cassette and derailer on my normal bike and swap for an 11 speed.
Bugger!
From no engagement through to complete engagement. I can understand why the chain dropped, if the cassette is pushing the chain onto a static front chainring its gotta go somewhere.
I'll be checking my funds for new wheelset.
dream set: Flite Carbon eMtb - Wheelworks
I'd go for the...
I'm planning a Multi-day trip to do the The Old Ghost Road | Official Website in March, which is a 2-3 day ride without any power sockets. May just do it on my normal bike but curious to hear if anyone has attempted (successful or not) to recharge their bike in the field with portable solar...
I actually wonder if I got a whole new wheel or if they just replaced the internals of the hub. Suppose it doesn't matter as long as the problem doesn't happen again.
Can I ask what you mean by "upgraded hubs" are you getting aftermarket or just a new giant one? I think I might replace mine out...
Since joining the Emtb revolution, I've come up with my own rules to ensure the peace is kept on the trails with the "unassisted".

Don't use Turbo: I seriously can't think of a single time where I needed my TURBO mode. If you're in turbo, chances are you're probably...
I had a 2.8 on the back of my trance E+ 1 Pro that was on a spare wheel and it fitted perfectly, could easily fit a 3.
I did find the 2.8 rolled around on the rim when cornering hard even at 30psi. I imagine a 2.8 would be nice on the front but I like the feeling of a 2.6 front and back. just...
There will never be a better tire combo than Maxxis 2.6 DHF and DHR!!!:p:p
holds everywhere and doesn't roll on the rim like 2.8s
as for rolling resistance....who cares!!! it's an ebike!
I used the Giant sealant but I must say it's crap. I had a stone puncture the rear Rekon tire and the sealant struggled to plug the hole after frequent reflating and topping up with more sealant, i decided to chuck in some MucOff sealant and it fixed the leak instantly.
This is my video!! Sorry for the poor quality!
I've been meaning to do a followup video but have been busy. Will link it to this forum but to summarize:
Giant have replaced the controller which has rectified the electrical problem 100%. They attributed the rear hub failure to over greasing of...
