....don't think anything could top the smell of a compression running a lean mix of 110octane C12 on a winters day :love:
I remember racing indoor Supercross in Canada back in the 2 stroke days - the ventilation poor and the spectators at the back often fainted once the fumes built up. we...
I used to race motocross and supercross from 1999 till 2010, without tooting my horn too much I must say I was a decent rider, having the opportunity to race internationally.
Switching to an EMTB took some time to get used to. The biggest being that you spend most of the time coasting which is...
I'll pray for you @MrTeno2U
I went from 12spd to 11spd and it was a huge improvement. hope your experience is the same
One thing I'd also check is your cable length and that it's not too short. I remember a tie when I cut mine too short and had ghost shifts when I turned hard to the right
Given how little electrical energy can be taken in by the battery at any time and the relatively short amount of time spent on the brakes, a recover system looks unlikely to provide enough juice to even be close to being worth it.
Even a system that creates a charge whilst coasting is going to...
Another option is to try a softer rubber compound like Maxxis' Maxxgripp but at higher pressures. I'm running an Assegai with DH casing in the rear at about 35psi which sounds like a lot but is surprisingly grippy and rarely breaks traction.
What can I say I'm a curious tinkerer! haha
I come from a moto background so I am semi-familiar with coils and the joy of trying numerous springs before finding the goldilocks.
I want to test my theory that a coil can be beneficial to a larger rider like me (120kg). Currently, my shock is...
Deja vu!! This photo was taken in the same spot as yours but just to the right. Fully pooped after a 3rd day of riding. I think I clocked 20 shuttles with a few climbs and long loops.
Love Rotorua, I need to go back there soon.
Longshot but is there any Trance E+ SX owners out there who would be open to swapping rear shocks with me and making some money in the process? I'm thinking a few hundred AUS/NZ/USD your way
I'm really eager to try a coil shock but thought a swap would be a good idea.
I'm in NZ
Any takers?
I haven't had the pleasure to run my hands and eyes over the 2020 Meridas.....YET!!! They don't have much presence here in NZ. On paper, the geo looks really good and that compact motor should be the standard on all bikes. just the sticker price is my only quarrel.
Just put a 2nd hand Galfer 223mm rotor in the front yesterday and did a quick lap of my local trail. Once bedded the power is a very noticeable improvement from the 203mm Sram Centerline. I'm aware that Sram Codes aren't known for their raw stopping power like Shimano Saints but the 223mm seems...
from my experience and research
Spesh: expensive, good quality, more for people who just want to ride a standard bike. few reliability issues but decent manufacturer support so it will be right in the end. Levos are well regarded and the kenevo is a sexy machine but comes at a price but won't...
I was contemplating a new shock myself and seen there are more options at 185/55 which by my calculations would also give another 6.66mm of rear travel.
I'd be curious to know how the progression feels on the shock. I understand the OEM shock was tuned specifically Giant to have progression...
Creak hunting is probably the most frustrating part of the MTB experience.
I developed the 'creak' after 1 year of ownership and took the bike to bits and greased everything, found a few dry bearings/pivots and thought they would be it.....no the case. rebuilt the bike and still creaking like...
The 50T is great for climbing but as you guessed it's not the easiest to balance at low speed but that's part of the skill :) Once the trail flattens out (but still incline) the problem is if you're in too low a gear you''ll be spinning like mad but going nowhere with little support from the...
The rear hub problem is well known on the 2019 Giants. Bit annoying but still an amazing bike at a great price.
Take my advice get a new back wheel and have peace of mind.
some people just want it all
I'd say the CS on the Trance is pretty close to the goldilocks for me! I love the straight 'point and shoot' stability but can still slash and slide the bike around without much input.
YES YOU CAN!!
You just need to commit with your life!
The manual 'sweet spot' is pretty far back and the tipping point is inches away. Practice on soft grass, and a little speed is your friend and perhaps initiate the manual off a feature like a roller where the front naturally wants to lift...
