It took a bit of motivation to get out of the comfy armchair at home yesterday with mizzling weather and especially as Jaco & Colin had "family commitments" and Wayne was feeling "tom-dick" ...(Cockney rhyme & slang for "sick" ..he doesn't know anybody called Tom and he wasn't feeling his dick) ...but thankfully Ant was still good for a look out ..
Moorland rides are saturated at the moment ..so as Kielder is on our doorstep that's where we headed ( again) ..and spent a good few hours mixing up tracks on the Lonesome Pine / Deadwater & Osprey trails ..with a three mile range left on the battery at the end .
Soaked to the arse of my pants at the finish but a great ride out and the comfort of a pint( cheers Ant) & a roaring fire in the Hollybush Inn to warm up again was a great ending .
Not one pic taken by myself ..but this one from Ant of me exiting the first section of " Into The Valley" on Deadwater ..just to prove we were out

The lum is in the upper box and passes directly from there through the wall behind. A system by Scantherm, not our main heating.
Yes grim weather up here for a week yet. Wary going too far afield as levo still feeling poorly. Tarland would have been dry yesterday. Nice there next week but minus one so be colder up a height. Yes, it is a log burner, heating quite effective even if we burn about 1.5 stere / piled meters of log per winter only, I know this is not much but we have a modern floor heating powered by nearby „local heat“ doing the main warming.
My house is cold. We buy logs in cube or metric ton use 1.5 . Ours only goes on at 5pm . I just can’t ride with my regular prescription glasses, even though I pack them with me. I only put them on to read that very very important text message about the dishwasher I forgot to empty.What can you do on a rainy day at the end of the year to escape the winter blues?

Had -4.5L & -4.25R vision and did a lot of water sports which is difficult wearing glasses. In 2001 had Lasik eye surgery and still have 20/18 vision. Amazing.

Rocky has huge sale on Blizzard powerplay so i bought one at 50% off. My Gasgas e-bikes with studs was not working due to much snow and most years just quit riding not this one. I do not ride if windchill or temp is below -15c. Hoping to use Bizzard lots. First ride yesterday and defiantly better the regular bike in snow. Rocky E drive system is impressive.

I had roughly the same vision and had LASIK back in 2012. I was back in glasses by 2020, I’m at -.75 and -1.00 now so nowhere as bad as before. I just wish it would have lasted longer, I would have been pissed if I would have paid for it.
I tried everything except rubbing me with vaseline what I will try out tomorrow if I can find a gallon of vaseline at the drugstore!

Used to spend most of my working day looking at computer screens. After Lasik was advised to get prescription glasses for exactly the focal length required, and to take a break every 30 minutes. Did that and my sight didn't "drift". With age we generally become "longer sighted" so with time your eyes may well 'correct'.
I’m already old
I was told when I got the surgery that I’d more than likely end up back in glasses because nothing can be done about the natural aging of my eyes. I was just disappointed that I only got 8 years before I needed glasses when my mate got the surgery on the same day and still doesn’t need glasses. I was considering getting it done again but don’t know if it would be worth it, no idea how long it will last again and I’d be paying for it this time.
With ageing eye lenses generally become less flexible and tthinner - presbyopia.I’m already old
