With the crazy Yamaha emtb blowout going on, just couldn't resist the deal. They're getting out of the MTB and snowmobile business completely I was told. Their sleds have been basically Arctic Cats with a Yamaha engine for years though. The spec on this seems really good for the money. XT components, Magura brakes, Maxis tires etc... Yamaha makes the frame and motor in house. For the price, it's pretty awesome. The dealer said he's sold over 200 since September. There were several others picking up their assembled bikes when I got there yesterday. I took mine in a box and assembled it myself. Really nice looking bike. Hopefully I get to ride it soon.

One thing I did notice is the Yamaha motor seems really small compared to the Bosch and Shimano. I did ride it around the street for a minute to set the brakes and noticed the motor is basically silent..at least on the road with no bumps. Holy crap...putting a seat on a bike is a REAL pain. I must be stupid or something, but that took longer than un-boxing, putting on the front wheel and bars, the grips and pedals (which are horrible as usual). The seat has a nice lift point on the rear which is nice.

Did you order it online and have it shipped to the bike shop or did they have them in stock? Was the price the same as online?

I'm not sure why those two bolts and the rail bracket are an issue for you. Usually I barely put the bolts in then slide the seat on and finger tighten both bolts to get the seat angle n position I want then tighten both bolts evenly. Also make sure you clean your rotors with a degreaser before you bed in your brake pads. Exciting times now get out n ride ride ride !!

I simply called a Yamaha dealer I knew of last weds/thurs and he said the bike I wanted (Dual Blue Moro 7 in medium) was available. He got my name etc and he picked up the boxed unit at the warehouse the next day. I picked it up at the dealership Saturday. $2,750ish OTD. He had several bikes in stock mainly Moro 5's and gravel bikes...but not the exact one I wanted. That's why he picked on up for me at the warehouse.

As long as they stick to their promise of warranty and any updates,why not keep buying their bikes

I doubt Yamaha is going to stay out of the American market for long. Ebikes are here to stay. I'm still waiting to see when Honda is going to enter the fold.

I read the other day that Yamaha was getting out of the ebike business in the USA. Alluding to the low profitability of emoters in the States. I read that as competition from the zillion of ebikes flooding the American market. Idk but the fact they are closing out current models, it made sense. Obviously Yamaha as a company is not going anywhere.
i brought the Wabash RT gravel bike and happy with it. Yes its not as strong as the Bosch motor in my Cube Sterero 140.Of course the Cube is alomost 4x the price before discount.

Brief update: I rode yesterday for about 2 hours. Changes I made...PNW grips and pedals, set up the suspension. 85psi fork, 160psi shock (I like it a bit soft). Rebound front 2 clicks slow from middle, rear rebound dead center at 12 clicks. 26 psi tires. 25 degrees outside temp.

The suspension was great, no issues, very supple and followed the trail very well. The bike handles very good, easy to change direction very quickly. Cockpit seemed very neutral. No long reach or wonky ergos. The display is VERY minimalistic. Display shows bar lights for battery and assist level, that's it. No speedo, no distance...nothing.

The motor: The motor is very Bosch like to me power wise. Where the Shimano is more natural feeling, the Yamaha motor is more and faster assist. I liked it a lot. Very easy to teeter totter the pedals and have very quick assist. The emtb mode is not as good as Bosch though. It reduces power more than Bosch, but still kicks in with great power when needed. I rode on non-emtb with 3 green bar lights out of 4. This is basically one or 2 steps from basically wide open all the time in yellow mode I think. Basically though, the Yamaha display is a hunk of shit. Since Bosch is the benchmark for motors, I would say the Yamaha is at least 90% as good as Bosch. I highly recommend it.

Battery is only 500w. I started riding at approx 90% charge. When I was done it was at 45%+. I probably rode 12 miles I think. I have not connected the app for this bike yet. So, range is not huge, but plenty good for me.

The bike to me is not heavy...probably mainly due to a smaller battery...which I like. It weighs a bit more than my carbon Trek and Intense, but overall very easy to lift into my truck bed. The bars suck...not enough rise which makes getting the front end light a bit more of a chore. Going to switch them for carbon Renthals with 40mm rise.

Overall: For the price Yamaha is selling them for now, it's a friggin no brainer. I would give an easy 10/10 for quality/value.
