I am about to head out on a 2800 mile road trip with our two bikes riding on a bumper carrier.
They both have the Bosch Performance CX with the Purion controller.

What safeguards for waterproofing are recommended... we'll be heading through West Texas, the Rockies and High Desert areas and are likely to encounter just about anything and everything weather-wise.....

Sounds like a great trip!

In the UK a long trip might be 120 miles to the seaside at Bognor Regis for an afternoon tea and possibly an ice cream if I’m feeling flush. Then home again for supper.

No Rockies. No High Desert, but possibly a bit of the old West(ern Super Mare). Enjoy and keep safe.

Some pics would be great to see, too...

Thanks for the input Humphrey, I believe I will do exactly as you suggest.
And Thanks SoftTail... We are really looking forward to our little jaunt,
I will try to post some pics once we're back

I've seen neoprene covers for the motor but being a bit cheap I would just wrap an old towel round the motor and secure with a strap. For the display and battery I would remove them completely as it's so easy. Both my battery and display have damp/mist visible in them so they are not at all waterproof and they are always removed for cleaning.
