But before doing all that try just tapping the cassette (all round the cassette) with a soft mallet. this is sometimes enough.

if you only have one chainwhip carefully use pipe grips in place of the second chainwhip.

I guess with the added torque, you must see more freehub failures with emtb’s. Wondering if anyone has used the onyx hubs on their bike? I’ve been hearing the sprag clutch they use is quite durable. I was tempted to try a set with my lb wheels I ordered last year but ended up with the tried and true hope hubs because they were lighter and familiar to me. New onyx’ have been put on a diet and the lbs owner swears by them

Been running a Wolftooth dropper remote over the Summer with the stock dropper post, which made a big improvement, but struggled to get everything placed where i want, as the dropper lever sits very close to the E6000 remote. Decided to try out the new PNW Loam Lever.

Initial impressions are it just edges the Woolftooth in terms of build quality, i would say that the bolts and bits are better quality, and i really like the grub screw which allows you to set where the lever starts in its range of movement, and the little nib on the back of the lever which holds/ tidy's up the cable end once crimped. Rubber pad is a great touch.

Very smooth action, needs minimal effort to actuate and easy to modulate speed of return, but still sits very close to the E6000 controller, no matter which way i arrange everything. However unlike the Woolftooth its range of movement seems to fall away from the E6000, so doesn't clip the cable. I think once they bring out the Sram mount so that i can get it on the brake clamps it will fit well, but TBH the new E7000 controller cant come soon enough. I have just about been able to get it where i want it without moving my brake levers, which i like to run pretty far inboard.

I'm looking forward to the E7000 remote as well. This arrangement is driving me nuts but I also don't love the look of the E6000 so I decided to live with it until a 3rd party or something like the e7000 comes out.
Ideally I would totally skip a remote and display and have a stealth version where modes are shifted on the battery like levo. I ride eco most of the time and when I do technical climbs I am OK with switching to trail near the battery.

I'm not surprised. How do you even reach the small conroller paddle while riding?
The B-X lever fits nicely alongside the E8000 and Guide levers.
and even better if you cut half an inch off the B-X paddle

I ride with my palms overhanging the edge of my grips incase you're thinking the dropper lever is placed too far outwards

When i was trying to quiz them on next year, they asked what i would change (but wouldn't tell me what they have changed other than they are sticking with airshock at rear), and i said E7000 controller, shorter cranks, and ask @Gary how to ream a seat post ;)

JT knew about the seatpost insertion issue before I spoke to him. Some vitus supported riders had already reamed their own frame seattubes deeper. So rest assured Vitus are on the case. The factory were apparently being a little over cautios with it.
Oh.. and @R120 by shorter you did of course say no shorter than 165s, eh? :p

Water bottle cage (on the bigger sizes at least) and straighten the top tube! Although I suppose that profile is a Vitus "thing"

And some sort of removable cover over the BB area rats nest of cables

With 11 speed you only really need a long cage mech for a bike with double chainrings up front

Ok so it turns out my wife was right when she said i would rather fiddle with my bikes that with her . . . err thats not quite what i meant it to sound like was it?!

Dropper lever still bugging me, remembered i had a One Up remote that came with my One Up dropper post that i didn't get on with, i got the MMX lever thinking it would work with the stock brake clamp, which of course it didn't, so ended up using the Wolftooth lever with the One Up post.

Anyway this got me digging though one of my boxes of bits to find the One Up and low and behold i also found an MMX clamp that came with a Reverb dropper i had on an old bike, so off i trot down to the garage to change shit up again.

Think i might have hit pay dirt this time - still think the Loam Lever is top dog in terms of build quality, but the One Up works best with the E6000 switch, and declutters the bars a bit, and again is a nice bit of kit.

The lever is slightly unusual in that it is designed to sit under the bars, replicating a shift lever, the idea being its easier to find/requires less hand adjustment when going full pelt. In the pics i have it quite far forward compared to how much further under the bars it could go.

If the ideal number of bikes is N + 1 then the ideal number of parts you can buy for the same purpose turns out to be N + 3

I suggested to them doing something with the top tube so they could put bottle bosses on there - great point on the cable nest!

Hmm..wide hands I guess?
I absolutely hate clutter near my hands, and even though I am at the edge (but not over) my thumb reach the lever fine. However I suppose I could try turning it a bit more level with the handlebar, makes sense.

edit:
Oh you mean the motor throttle? Doh :) Yeah I see what you mean. I don't. I move my hands. It's a bit annoying, but I rarely switch much up and down in power. I usually ride eco unless tech climbing, so it's not really an issue.

and then the E7000 shifter hits the shelves... and the cycle begins all over again.

Surprised Shimano haven’t done an E-spec to go with the I-spec. Mount dropper lever and mode shifters to their brake levers

Anyone fitted a rear mud guard (with good coverage) yet? I'm assuming the mud hugger or maybe a zefal no mud are the best options for a full suss with a dropper post.

RRP are bringing out a new rear guard (not on their website yet) which i think will do the trick, i have tried a couple of options but as there is no seat stay bridge, its difficult to find something that stays in place as most guards rely on putting one attachment here. The new RRP one has 3 attachment points on each chain stay which i believe will sort this
