Quick mod with a "lightweight" build .. or slightly lighter ..

180 Zeb's (actually measure 185) to try as an alternative to the 170 Fox 38's.

Loam lab grips/bar ends/granite stash tools replaced by the original super light Vitus grips. No mud guard. Loam labs 35mm stem. One up carbon E-bars. Saves 800g with the 50g saved on the Zeb over the 38. Don't think it will make any difference to how it feels when riding.

Have also been playing with the DP C245 V3 Display and "Go+" ... this had the unfortunate side effect of making the motor inoperable except for walk mode. Fortunately, I've worked out how to fix it. Following on from strong recommendations. I'd strongly recommend NOT bothering with the V3 Display (it has the bafang not vitus firmware for starters) and avoid the GO+ app .. "Go" works fine.
What is the light your using there? How do you like it?

Just got into night riding and picked up one of the cheap battery powered light bars from amazon,

and a Nightrider lumina for the helmet.

Been pretty happy with the light output, just not sure about the light bars longevity. So far we've been on 2 night rides that were about 1.5 hours and everything was good. Just always watching for a reasonably priced alternative.

Cant wait to hear your impression with the zeb vs 38. I have no experience with fox stuff but been running a zeb for about 600 miles and I've been impressed. I am a heavy rider though, so that may make a difference.

Very similar ! So far REALLY impressed with it !!!

Was on offer for €15 instead of €45 (the 1400 one) , came in 5 days with free postage ...

Not sure if yours is the same one or not, but if it is, long press on the power turns on the long slim led bar at the bottom as a day time running light. It's not much good at night :)

Only been round the garden several times and it's raining and very wet (almost had an off on a root). Trying to re-program the motor settings after GO+ erased them :) Working out what they were is not easy, so I'm setting them to what I like instead.

Early thoughts are that I'd like high speed compression to be slightly softer, but I'm at the adjustment limit. Doesn't quite seems as supportive when cornering, but that could be the slop and I'm more focused on the motor than the fork to be honest. It will have to wait until the weekend/next week for a proper test.

When running all the modes back to back repeatedly like that it's quite impressive to notice how huge the motor overrun is is Boost and Race modes !

If anyone else is dumb enough to feck up all their settings. These seem to work ok as a compromise :

Startup angle 0.
Acceleration 1 - feels fine and I'd prefer longer transmission lifespan as a compromise.
1 - 15% , 2 - 35% , 3 - 65% , 4 - 85%, 5 - 100% - feels ok for me.

1 gives me good range in theory (I should check the range predictions to give me more of an idea as to how the modes compare to default). 2 gives me better assistance with less range. 3 gives me something which feels a bit like EMTB mode. 4 gives me something like Turbo but with slightly better range and 5 gives me Turbo with no care about range so you have to go fast instead for decent WH/KM or Meters per second per watt ..

They feel similar ish to how it was.

It seems as though the black VR model is now only available in XL from the CR website, I added as many as I could to my cart, it only gave me 4, which could either be an indication of stock levels or 4 limit per customer. I also checked the other 2 models, similar situations, some sizes had up to 10 available to add to the cart.

So have you just bought 14 bikes ? 😆

Thanks for your excellent write-up and for giving us a great insight into the e-bike with your many posts on this thread, appreciated.

Promising that they have started to show bikes are out of stock, rather then just letting us part with our cash to go bust.

Makes me much more confident I’ll get my bike 🤣

The light output and spread is outstanding, better than anything else I've used and reducing the need in some situations for the helmet light. It's nice being able to have the wide ones (yours calls it low beam and it is much lower and wider), the centre ones (High) or all of them, depending what you're doing.

Not had chance to use it enough to test longevity. It has 4 little indicator lights on the side to give an idea of how much you have left.

It claims between 2.5 and 4.5 hours - I can't help but think with the amount of light it's throwing out that that would be somewhat optimistic !

I've just checked it on the E-Mythique and it will USB-C (lamp) to USB-C (display) and communicate correctly to get the charge information, so I can keep it going almost indefinitely if I need to. Could do with finding a tiny Usb C to Usb C cable !

Just finished another 1.5 hour ride on it and it’s still going good. Light spread is fantastic. Between that and the helmet light I could not ask for more.

Mine also has the little indicator lights and after 1.5 hours it still shows 2 out of 4. I charge them before every ride just because I don’t want to get caught without.

We’re gearing up because in November time changes and it’ll be DARK at 5:30. Evening rides will eventually start in the dark!

crc/wiggle are going tits up by the looks. That’s probably why the site gone. I ordered a bike for my son then heard about the troubles. Just had email to say bike dispatched

I ordered a helmet light from Wiggle yesterday, and it was dispatched as normal and should be arriving today.

I want to support them, and will carry on using them for as long as they’re trading, I’ll just make sure I use a Credit Card or other method that means I’m protected from financial loss.

I do feel for all the guys and girls who work for them, it’s not nice when things are seemingly so uncertain, so I hope that it all gets worked out.

Vitus e-mythique VRX or carbon Levo base model (700w battery but RS 35 silver forks)????
Difficult call, both nice and capable bikes !!

VRX you'd probably buy and ride as it is and not need to upgrade.

Levo, you'd probably be tempted to do some upgrades - like the forks, though depending on the type of riding you do. It could be fine as is.

Zeron forks just came back.

They've changed and upgraded the damper. It now has what looks to be an R2C2 Damper- or more accurately an R1C2 Damper, but I can't find one of those, so not sure exactly what it is - but better.

So it's a bit like a more robust Durolux fork (Robust meaning heavier ...) This version weighs in at 2440 with axle/star nut.

Little trick I would recommend with the E-Mythique or your E-bike in general! Grab yourself some 'Di-electric' grease from the hardware shop or for £10 on Amazon and put a small coating on all the connectors for added protection against water ingress for the wet winter months!

I have done this with my E-Mythique VRS due to the bafang connections being larger to prevent any water affecting mainly the display screen. Also put some in and around the USB connection for the display to better seal this area. Winter has arrived here in the UK and its very wet so the more protection and sealing the better!

Had a nice ride on Saturday. Bike is working really nice. Had 4 or 5 ghost shifts, maybe it is rear derauller for reason.
Tyres are working well and good grip on autumn forest. Brakes are ok, but have no big hills here and not too much technical stuff.
