Using two tubes .

Before i drill a second valve hole , has anyone used 2 tubes in the rear tyre/tire? im thinking 2 light weight tubes which will be lighter than a heavy duty tube filled with sealant , i am a cheap arse so it will be a cheap thing to do . Not really sure about the pressures eg 2x10psi=20psi or 2x20psi=20psi????

No , you can buy them, the thick tubes with green sealant in them , i think they are called "thorn proof tubes" Repco brand..

In the UK we say belt and braces. For men of a certain age here… suspenders means something completely different.

Pinch flats on rocks, could be one a week to one every few months , other advantages are less rolling resistance , less ballooning of the tube/tubes , more balanced wheel , in the event of puncture one tube hold air, low cost etc etc. No more sub questions.....

I understood innertubes increase rolling resistance so adding more rubber would increase this?

I guess you've got to balance this with the time saved not repairing/changing an inner tube during a race?

There appears to be contradictory requirements and wishful thinking or you have improper tyres (brand / model?) on your rims. KI says best answer for your problem is in post #9 & more detailed post #10 and may only be superseded by answer 42.

@ari You might want to reconsider your expectations in interacting with this imho valuable forum if you are not satisfied with the information available from its given content in multiple articles / postings and individual advice received from its international members.

Don't make him mad and chase him away. Every day I eagerly await his pearls of wisdom. My only regret is that he's such a busy man that he doesn't have the time to respond to each of us personally. The burden of his responsibilities would overwhelm a normal person.

I don’t want to be pigeonholed into the category of genius …but pearls may be the answer (or ball-bearings). If a number of those were placed inside a tubeless tire, along with your favourite sealant, coagulation of sealant may not occur.

The constant smashing of round objects inside a tubeless tire would prevent, or at least lessen, the balling-up of sealant and thus extending the use of your tire. As long as evaporation doesn’t occur, any puncture could be quickly sealed by the liquid.

I don’t want to step on the toes of a two or three tube theory …but my carbon rims could survive. 🤔

Did anyone try construction foam? Does it make sense to use in tube instead of tubeless and full fill at home and never ever be afraid of punctures again or to go for quick on trail repair?

Maybe airless tyres as used by NASA and being tested on cars by tyre manufacturers may be the future?

A photo of your rim with two holes in it and a photo of the tyre showing the two tubes inside. I will make your case a lot more plausible.
Since you are a Tasmanian i will answer you , I honestly did not think it needed photographic proof , most people[including Tasmanians] have seen a valve sticking thru a rim[think double vision after hitting that low branch], and its literally a 5 min job, take tyre off,drill, put tyre, tubes in [as normal], pump, job done.[also , my phone has like a 1 megapixel camera , wont see any detail]

Even though you won't answer, please understand that the rest of the world doesn't believe you. If you want us to believe your furphie tale, you'll need to provide pictures. I understand that your tiny little camera is inadequate. Just borrow your mum's iPhone to take the pictures. She can text them to me, and I'll post them here in the forum.
