Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong place. First time on a forum and obviously first time posting.

I have just ordered a Trek rail 9 GX. I have searched numerous websites including Treks for the brake rotor sizes - trek states they are 200 front and 180 rear but I can't see this being right. I was after a definitive answer on the sizes please as I want to order hope rotors and have a 220mm rotor on both front and rear. I'm a big bloke, 290lbs and 6'4 so I thought this would be a good upgrade.

The bike is coming with SRAM code R brakes. Can someone please tell me if the attached rotors/bracket will do the trick for me please?

I have ordered 2x 220mm hope floating disc rotors and the hope disc brake mount/spacer HBMPN for the rear. This is due to me reading elsewhere they already come with a 220 on the front and 200 on the rear.

Thanks in advance.
Cooper.

You might wait and ride it some. The stock brakes are pretty good. My 9.7 has the shimano with 4 piston calipers and i can't reallt want for more. First upgrade might be tires. i just put a magic marry on the front and a vigilante and first ride today was really good. Big difference in braking.

Thanks for the info, Are you a big bloke too? I will do the tyres once they need doing, I'm going to get through the standards first.

I consider myself "normal" at 5'10"185 lbs . With my motocross background i do charge pretty hard down hill and I live in the mountains, so i work my brakes pretty hard. i have 850 miles on my 2021 9.7, just changed tires, still original brakes.

On my 2021 rail 9 with code R the rotors indeed have 220/200mm stamped on them , never really checked before just assumed they where 200/180 as per the spec sheet.
On my bike I just changed the pads and fluid 1400Ks pads still had a bit left on them but changed to Galfer e-bike pads, best thing I have changed was got rid of the original tires for maxxis and dropped to 2.5 made a new bike as far as i was concerned but tires are a personal thing
Enjoy the new bike

I'll have a search for some galfer Ebike pads thanks. How have you found the wear on the discs?

Thanks for the info

I have upgraded to TRP 2.3 thickness rotors. 223mm front and 203mm rear on my 2021 Rail 9.8 AXS. These are extremely effective...very powerful, great modulation with no fade. I rode yesterday in 100F heat...20mi/2500 feet with long steep downhills...they feel great from the first to last. Super smart installation design... I purchased them from Spokex.com (Temecula, Ca). These would be perfect for a guy your size.
Also, take a look at the extensive Loam Wolf reviews on Youtube of these brake...they love them.
This is my opinion only...I hope this helps
Good luck!

Thanks for the in depth reply Jaybee, I've just finished installing the hope 220 rotors, though, first ride out tomorrow so I'll see how I get on.

Thanks again 👍🏻
