@geehaw. : That's exactly why I decided not to use the 11-46 cassette. I rarely use boost. If I'm riding as far as possible I will stick to eco. If it's not as long a ride it stays on trail. The ex1 end up being evenly used across the gear range. The advent x would be equivalent for sure.

@Sander23. Universal cycles a web based outfit has them in several USA warehouses. I only use ex1 chains which are made in Portugal . They are even discounted. Elsewhere in the $400s.

I am not married to a 12 speed setup but I can't seem to find a 9 or 10 speed 10-50 cassette.

Same problem here.
a 10t-50t or 10t-52t cassette is always micro spline, and those only exist in 12sp
I want a 10t-52t 10sp micro spline cassette.

@ bebiker: not going to happen. If you have one of the new designed hubs that don't have separate cassette drivers ya need either a new wheel or rebuild it with a different hub. And if you go back to hg it's probably going to be 11 not 10 teeth as the smallest.

I'm not accusing you of that I'm just saying that if you want to have 10 speeds with at the end 50 teeth, you're going to end up giving up that 10 toother. If I had a 12-speed micro spline drivetrain of quality I'm pretty sure that I would try to get a hold of that ebike specific Shimano stuff and try that before I went to 10 speed even if it's considerably more expensive because the whole sebang needs to be changed. I mean if you cant afford to replace the parts and you have to step down that's a whole different story. but usually people describe bikes that they're riding to be considerably valuable and costly I mean if we're talking about a DIY deal well yeah definitely you should definitely do it budget if that's your necessity. I'm just realizing that the cost of these cassettes if you really take good care of them is manageable.

Funny that you would mention eMTB single-speed. Yes I convert my Wire Peak Comp to a single speed for the bike park season, when I don't need all of the gears to climb.

It might be wishful thinking.

I wish for a 10-42 micro spline 10 speed.

For now, I dump the micro-spline freehub driver as soon as the OEM cassette is wore out. On my Giant TranceX~, it was a 40$ part to convert to HG, and requires almost no skills or special tools. My LBS switched the micro spline to an HG free hub driver, in 3 minutes, Lol.. literally 3 minutes.

If you want that spread, you can indeed change to a 11-46t on a HG, and a 10% bigger chainring.

For me it's the maximum spread between gears that is important, a 10t-52t 10-speed.
With the extra advantage of the cheaper 10-speed chain and gears

I'm good with 11-42, a 30T chaining, and the shortest cage possible. I wear out first gear, and almost never peddle above 20 mph. The super large platters are anathema to me hence the wishing 10-42.
