Trek approved my warranty claim for the crack frame on my Powerfly in less than 24 hours and they offered me a 2018MY frame or a discount on a Rail. After much deliberation I'm now the very happy owner of this beauty;

Nice. I am looking at that ebike in XL. The red/black color is clearly the best. LBS says they wont get one in for a couple months though.

Is there a pre-planned schedule of what parts you plan to break in what order ?

Just makes sense, so you can pre-order all the bits before hand ?

The rail is the bike I most want to try, lots of impressive detail and thought in the frame design and integration of charging ports etc etc

If I ever make it to a Southern ride you're welcome to have a go. It's a Medium though, so it'll look like a balance bike with your gangly frame on it.

That's a great looking bike! I think the matt black/raw carbon would be my choice of colour though

Just picked this up yesterday had a quick blast on it today on a few wet trails and loved it well impressed, mud guards need to go on though absolutely covered.

I just sold my 2019 Levo Comp so I could get a 2020 Comp with 700w battery. Your Rail looks awesome. I see you on the Levo thread so I'm wondering if you had $6K burning a hole in your pocket which would you choose, Rail or Levo?

I chose between S-works Levo and the Rail. In my opinion the Levo has two things I really like:
Integration of software, (ant+ support, the app) and the Brose motor power delivery.

The Rail on the other hand offered 12 speed, good quality carbon frame, wireless gears and dropper, really good suspension. All in all a nice and fun handling bike for a lot less money than a comparable Levo.

What I don’t like on the Rail, or any Bosch bike for that matter is the Kiox or even worse Purion display. Rather see open integration like Ant+. That however is a small trade-off I was willing to pay.

I’ve just ordered a new Rail after testing it for two days. I have also tested new Kenevo and Levo and plenty of other bikes before deciding. My old emtb is Commencal Meta Power which I have tuned to my liking. Imo Rail has best value for the money ration at the moment. Brose is a better motor for sure but Rail has so good geometry that it’s a perfect combination of playful trail ride and still being able to ride steep downhills fast. Being 29r it’s actually unbelievable nimble. Nonexistent app support for Bosch is a downer for sure, but for me 625wh battery and excellent geo is a lot more important.

I also prefer new Kenevo over Levo. Levo is a good trail bike, but way too nervous on downhills.

That explains your experience compared to mine. My bikepark/shuttle rig is Santa Cruz Nomad V4 and that is pretty comparable to new Kenevo.

Weighed? with pedals ready to ride?
That surprises me. I rode a rail last week and it felt heavyAF to me. It was an XL though and I was just jibbing about in street on it.

Trek claim 23.something for a M Rail 7 (ally). I’ll weigh mine when I get a chance.

I'd have guessed at 24kg on the dot for the Rail I rode. so 23 something... mumble mumble sounds about right with the ol' no pedals bullshit
Pretty sure it was a Rail 5 (defo Alu).
Nice looking bike and I could actually manual it (unlike most heavier XL Eebs)
Wasn't instantly a fan of the motor/modes though (probs just because I now find my Shimano so intutive now though)

We get loads of dead shimano and SRAM brakes so there's usually a few levers kicking around to rook for spares. Just message me if you bend need another one.

Mine is a large 9.9 Rail. The medium size is speced at 21.3 running tubeless. Mine should be 22 kg at the most.

That’s the full Dentist-spec CF Rail. Mine is the Aluminium framed Rail.
