unless you just like reading pointless numbers read the suspension set-up sticky at the top of this very section of the forum

If that indeed ius the case here are some to keep you busy

they are are about as much use as a bunch of random people telling on random bikes with random shocks and forks telling you their preferred air pressures

I weigh 200, my fork is at 85 and my shock is at 205
this information alone doesn't help you in the slightest.

you really found this video too difficult to understand?

I was just wondering what people where keeping there shocks at . The sticky just confuses me .. and those videos more so . A bit like the random numbers 10 4 6 7 8 10 . That's how much sense those videos make to me .
If you post your weight and the manufacturer and model of suspension and bike, you may get something like a baseline to work with. Gary is right, without this basic info the numbers are useless in themselves. The video he posted is very good and easy to work through.

Trail ebike 15/20% sag F&R , Enduro ebike 20/25 sag ,Trail bike 20/25 sag , enduro 25/30 sag , DH 30/35 sag ! Give or take a pump or 2 , easy ! Forget weights and psi measurements until it feels right THEN write it down for reference ! IMO

I always try and make sure I set my front and rear so that on the maximum hits it is just a whisker from full stroke and then control my compression and rebound accordingly. Too many people run too much PSI to control bottoming out rather than their compression adjustment.

There's absolutely not point buying a bike with 160mm of travel in the front, whacking too much PSI in there and only using 120mm of travel..!!!

Good point , I usually set the sag and then tune with tokens to get the big hits just short or max ( bottom out never did me any harm ?) !

Ignore the bit about tokens in the video for now, and ignore the advice given here about them too.
Talking about tokens to a complete suspension novice is usually a big mistake*.
Very few folk (even a lot of riders very vocal about token use) actually understand their purpose properly. Not that they're particularly difficult to understand. But leave learning how to use them until you have set up the fork with suitable sag and ridden it a fair bit.

We still don't even know what bike or suspension the OP is running

*unless you're prepared to spend time listening to them and setting up their suspension for them

Yes there is.

I've run oversprung forks on many bikes from dirt jumpers to DH/slopestyle bikes.
But rather than send this beginner suspension thread off any more of a tangent I'll let you go away and try to work out why. ;)

We all know you're the resident expert on all things global Gary and that you were a legend in your day and no one can ever match your achievements but for general ebike riding there isn't any need to over spring your bike, except in your case because you are the dirt legend!!

I like a bit of spare travel just in case I over reach myself, or get trapped into a drop with no way out (it usually happens when following someone who is a better rider than me). Then I need all the help I can get.
