Can anyone tell me if t-type will work with my new heckler sl s build without having to purchase a new cassette? The cassette on it is SRAM xg 1275 10-50t

Would like to upgrade but the full upgrade kit price is grim

You’d need the cassette for the system. It’s designed around standard distances and tolerances.
I bought mine in pieces because you don’t need new crankset or chainring for it. The chain is actually compatible with Shimano chainrings

It works
Just need to put a 2.5mm spacer between casette and freehub body.
My actual set-up is (see post #73):
XX1 Axs shifter pod
XX Axs T-type 00.7518.161.000 Mech
XX1 xg1295 10-50T cassette
XX1 Eagle 12s chain
and it's working with no problems since December last year.

Agree, the t type mech works fine with a regular 12 speed cassette, chain ring and chain. You might have to space the cassette away from the wheel a little, I didn't need to as the micro adjust in the mech was enough to put the mech in the right place.

I'm using my t type mech with a garbaruk 12 speed cassette (on a shimano microspline hub) , and sram gx Eagle chain,it all works fine. Maybe the shifting isn't quite a smooth a a full t type setup, but it's pretty good still.

Ran into a rider with Sram gx transmission today that was walking out of the woods. He was complaining that somehow he kept having battery issues. I was stumped so when I got home I did a little research and found this video that explains his issues….. didn’t know where to post it so here it is.

That issue happens on the old (none t type) gx axs derailluer too, and that has a vertical battery, so it's nothing to do with the battery orientation, but it is definitely true that the pogo pins go bad and cause a poor connection.

Has anyone tried this, or something similar?

  • I have two bikes, one with GX T-type, the other with GX mechanical 12-spd.
  • I would like to be able to swap wheels between the two bikes (one is 27.5", the other 29")
  • Thinking I try the 2.5mm spacer behind the cassette on the mech GX wheel. It sounds like that will work with the Transmission, so the question is, will I be able to tune in the shifting on the mechanical GX bike, with the cassette moved outboard 2.5mm?
  • Both bikes have the same rotors and brakes- I used to swap wheels before upgrading one bike to T-type.

Hi! Curious if you had to add a spacer behind the cassette? I have the same Garbaruk one and was thinking about a T-Type derailleur.

In case anyone else was wondering- the T-Type cassette bottoms out against the UDH when installing the wheel with the GX mechnical drivetrain. I think I have read elsewhere that you can modify the UDH to make it work, but so far it looks like a no-go.
