This must be so dispiriting for all of you.
No. I'm now regularly cleaning the contacts in the battery and in the battery support with Isopropyl alcohol. Sometimes I can do a whole 2 hour ride without any errors. Other times I start getting errors after riding for about an hour. I turn the power off and turn it back on and the error goes away, but generally, once I start getting errors, they happen every 5 or 10 minutes, so it's a pain in the ass. Sometimes I ride downhill trails with the power off, just to avoid hearing the dreaded error bip.
In my case, the bike is a Commençal, but no, I haven't contacted them as my bike is past the two year warranty and I'm still trying to fix this myself. I have a friend with another Commençal who has the same problem. His bike is still within the warranty period and Commençal sent him a DHL label so he can send the motor to a specific Shimano dealer in France. I'm waiting to see what they say.have you contacted canyon about it? do they know what the issue could be?
Thanks for that information robbydobs. I'm still at the stage where I'm trying to solve the problem myself. I've tried cleaning the contacts of the battery and battery mount before every ride and the next step will be take out and check the battery mounts and cables and to retighten everything afterwards. If none of that works I'll contact Commençal.It's worth contacting Commencal, on some other forums I've seen Shimano help with repairs even after the warranty has expired.
Otherwise, you could dismantle and attempt to fix yourself.
Or buy a new motor, there are some sellers on ebay. Maybe you can get some money for the old broken one as someone else might try to fix it or scavenge it for parts?
I have the same bike. I posted earlier with the solution that worked for me over 18 months ago. Remove small side cover on motor. Remove connectors to motor using shimano tool. (display, batter, magnet sensor) Turn bike upside down. Spar contact cleaner liberally up into connectors to flush any small debris. Replace connectors using shimano tool until they click in and replace cover. Do same for connectors to display on handlebars. You can also test the motor ports as there is a spare and swap the connectors on that. Good luck. It was a Commencal suggestion .Hey,
Started getting e010 error last week too.
Meta Power 29 signature 2019 with e8000 motor
Cleaned all the connectors, I have two batteries, same error with both... batteries seem to be locked in place while on frame so no play.
Contacted commencal today to see what they say as it's still under warranty
I'm 2100km on the motor
Will try to get the bike next week to a service to see if I get a more detailed description of the error with etube for pc.
Will get back with any info
Thanks, already done that after I read this thread.I have the same bike. I posted earlier with the solution that worked for me over 18 months ago. Remove small side cover on motor. That is my next on the todo list, but was unsuccessful so far. I live in Romania/Brasov.. there are a couple of bike service shops that can do this and will investigate more.Have you tried doing a full components test with the PC LINKAGE UNIT SMPCE2 SHIMANO E800? Where are you located? I have one if you are nearby else try a local Shimano stockist?
A bit far to Dorset UK. The unit can test everything as installed or you can plug it into each individual component only. That is my next on the todo list, but was unsuccessful so far. I live in Romania/Brasov.. there are a couple of bike service shops that can do this and will investigate more.
yes e8000 in stock!Managed to get it tested at a local bike service... it looks like an error with the torque sensor, they say is a claim for replacement under warranty... got a reply back from Commencal as well and will see if I can solve the issue through them , they seem to have the E8000 unit in stock ; finger crossed this will not last too long. Will update as things progress... thank you all for all the replies.
Mine threw two e10s during a 46k ride yesterday - no obvious pattern, but maybe damp or debris in connectors - so time for a good cleanrun the diagnostics with SMPCE2 and see.Commencal meta power 2019.
Did the first 6000KM fine.
Suddenly the Odometer reset and we restarted at 0KM.
Now I am at 1390 km and constantly get e10 and w013 errors. Cleaned everything a million times. Tried a different display. Sometimes a get a couple of e10 errors pr ride but mainly its a constant issue.
Very strange that we get no info from Shimano to narrow this down.
Yesls it over two years old ?
Original motor. You've not had a new motor previously?
