Run on after stopping peddling

I can't say I've paid much attention to this before... The other day I was messing around popping wheelies, had the bike in turbo mode and was going from very slow riding to putting the power down then stopping peddling. I noticed that when I stopped peddling the motor would continue to drive the bike for maybe a second before stopping. Is this normal for the Shimano motor? I would have expected the motor to stop almost straight away or is there a lag in detecting the lack of pedal input before the motor turns off?

It should only do it in turbo.
It’s not something I personally like. You can increase the assist level in trail if you would like more ooompf without the overrun.

yes it's normal on that motor, i didn't like it, but you can use it to overcome obstacles on technical uphills where you otherwise would risk a pedal strike...

That’s the only time I use it, on trials type rocky climbs where a pedal kick is enough with the overrun to get up awkward ledges n steps.

Good to know, I didn't try it out in trails mode. I rarely use boost mode in normal riding.
