Review: I said I would update my experience with rat bite inserts after a a good seasons use . There was much speculation as to how long they would last . I fitted mine in feb I think , then fitted some much lighter tyres for summer in late May . I haven’t had any tyre issues in all that time except for a thorn puncture that sealed up ok and a few burps recently losing a bit of pressure , this rat bite has done around 1200 miles all off road .
Planning a change to winter tyres i ordered new rat bites expecting the rear one to be getting a bit tired by now after 5 months of some very rocky trails .
As you can see from the pics the insert has sustained a few small tears where it’s clearly been pinched , but it’s still got life left in it . I was surprised to be honest , my fluid had all dried up and the tyre was well overdue for re spunking .
I would say from the damage in the photos this insert has probably saved this light tyre from early death a number of times .
I notice the new rat bites I ordered are cut to the perfect length and the joint is now welded instead of using a tie wrap .
