Question about new rear shock, Super Deluxe Ultimate

I bought a new Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate, 2022 model with the new damper, to upgrade my bike (Giant Reign E+ 2).

I've never tried this before, it is the first time I buy a rear shock, so apologies if this shows ignorance or how rookie I'am

The shock, out of the box does not move at all, i.e. does not compress. It is stuck. It is in the unlocked position, but no matter how much force I apply with my hands, the shock does not compress at all.

Rockshox's manual does not mention anything about it.

Is it normal? Am I doing something wrong, before I send it back?

Relax all is normal!
Unless there is no air pressure at all in the shock, you should not be able to compress it with your hands alone, well I never could.
Shocks need very much higher pressure than does a fork for them to work.

Fit the shock to your bike and set the %sag.
