I have a Scott Strike emtb full suspension. From factory it has brakes Shimano BR MT420 4 pistons with Shimano D03S and 203 rotors
SHIMANO Altus SM-RT30-L 203mm on the front and
SHIMANO Steps RT-EM300 L 203mm on the rear wheel , center lock external. My bike has 27 kg, i am big guy and i need some very good rotors. In my mind my option was Shimano RT MT800 but i read that they very easy became noisy and deformed and i am sick to adjust all the time my calipers because my Shimano rotors touch the pads.
I read about Magura and Galfer 2mm thick rotors but i don't know if they will fit well in my BR MT420 calipers. They will fit to leave some space between them and resin pads ?
Please help me to choose right some solid and good quality brake rotors who don't need to be straighten or to adjust the calipers all the time like my actual Shimano. The Shimano resin pads was very good for me and if you know some other good options, please help me with some sugestions. I don't ride in rain and mud, i need good brakes just for big hills . Also i hate noisy brakes, i heard that resin pads are the quietest, so perfect for me.
I'm waiting your help, please.
Thank you very much in advance !

Have they gone wrong already or do you believe that they might?

My entry level rotors became very easy noisy and deformed. And about rt mt800 i read some bad reviews : they also became noisy and deformed very easy. I don't want to pay extra money, double, to have same shity problems like i already have. I want to pay for what i need, not for the brand. And that's why i need some sugestions. Thank you for your answer :)

For what it's worth, I'm on Shimano RT76 203mm front and rear on my emtb.

Combined weight of me and the bike is 122kg, or 270lbs. They're silent, reliable, great stopping power (from some lairy speeds at times!) and no adjustments since new 300 miles ago - its not been out much over winter.

To be fair my none emtb I changed the front rotor out from Shimano 160mm to 203mm with a Formula 2-piece rotor, thats since done 900 miles. That goes out in ALL types of weather, and rotors only noisy if really wet and muck gets on the rotor and/or pad. Bit of brake cleaner always fixes that, no adjustments needed 🤷🏽‍♂️

Never had issues with warped or deformed rotors.

Just to add to Mr C's comment, I'm also running 203 Magura rotors, though only the single piece MDR-C centrelock version, with my Shimano M6120 calipers and pads with no issues.

Great ! Please tell me which model. I suposed that you use on the rear the one with magnet. I have center lock external. The magnet came with the rear rotor or must be purchased separately ? Thank you !

Thank you for your fast reply !
Damn ! I read just bad about those discs like they are expensive, very noisy and they warp very fast and those two parts playing freely. Yours are ok ?

I have had none of that happen, dont believe everything you read,i got mine from total bleed solutions at £48 each, done well over 1500 miles on them and never had an issue,i ride in wales,so,mud rain, snow, long descents and they have never faded or let me down, two piece rotors rarely warp, its single piece ones that normally fail,as the heat stays in the braking area of the disc, two piece rotors rarely do.
if you get crap pads they will all be noisy, get the ones that are recommended for that disc,i use gorilla sintered pads.

have you actually experienced warped rotors?
I think the rotors and pads you have should be fine
if you're doing big runs down mountains the heat might be too much...
the BR MT420 pistons are plastic (not ceramic) so they may not be dissipating heat through the caliper body so efficiently
also if you had a caliper with a banjo the pressure will be maintained better when it's hot
so maybe change the calipers first? (Saint, Zee (need banjo connection) or M6120, 7120, 8120 have ceramic pistons)
If you want premium braking pad in resin - these are very good TRICKSTUFF Brake Pads 260 POWER Resin for Shimano XTR | XT | Saint |

I write to Magura tech stuff and they recommend for emtb MDR-C rotors with centerlock adapter (because MDR-C have 6 bolts ). The centerlock adapter cost 20 euros and i don't know if he can pe reused when the rotors will be changed. But two MDR-C rotors plus two centerlock adapters cost same like two MDR-P. So what's the idea ?
Skizzian, thank you for your reply but i don't want to pay extra money and to change the calipers. Till now i use just entry level rotors for emtb from Shimano and for the beginning i want to invest just in thicker rotors.
Many people have just good words about MDR-P , but also i read many opinions about how the rivets will became loose and the rotors will be very noisy after that.

I'd say the MDR-C rotors are very good choice!
Galfer 2mm are good but have less metal and less heat dissipation
I wouldn't bother with sandwiched discs - stick with one piece pure Stainless

The MDR C rotors (203 mm) came as standard spec on my Frey Beast which is circa 32kgs going off the specs (never weighed it though) The bike is fast but limited to 60klms/hr and with the standard performance pads and Magura MT5e brakes have been faultless and quiet over the 2300 klms I have done on it so far, although I have had to do a pad change in that time.

Here is the deal. I drop 100,000' every month. Flat moving. I go through brakes. If your heavy first thing you do is go to 220 rotors. Next switch to sram Hs2 rotors as they are 2mm thick. and only 50 bucks. Next use bucklos pads, they are thicker and have a good bite, and are cheaper. They wear a hair quicker, but cost wise they cant be beat. You will need a 180 to 229 adaptor for front. And a 203 to 220 adaptor for rear. You will also need to dremel a bit of the rotor for magnet you JB weld on. Or buy a bolt on magnet for centerlock. This is the magic combination for longevity and performance.

looks like they do a Magura MDR-C CL with centrelock - not as much metal as the 6 hole for anti warp heat dissipation though

Yeah, the Magura guy told me that MDR-C 6 bolts are more recommended for heavy ebikes than the centerlock version so that' why he recommend me those plus center lock external adapters. But i don't know if that's solution is ok with that adapters. Also until now i use resin pads D03s from Shimano and they was ok for my 420 shimano brakes and for my needs. You know another good resin pads who will match my brakes and who will not cost a fortune ?

yeah you will need to check your magnet will fit ok
these aren't cheap - but they last better than Shimano and work really well
