I'm ashamed to say that we have screen protectors on our (non-smart) Kiox displays.

Was that done more often in the past or how do you explain that it could freeze?
It froze because we were stood around for ages in freezing wind while one of the other riders was trying to mend his derailleur.
It was amusing watching him pedaling like hell without any forward movement 🤣

Well, usually there is oil and grease around but no water. I never heard that mechanics on a bike got frozen. 🤔 But I know someone who peed in his combat boots in complete desperation because of severe blisters on his feet.😂

The good weather continues on the typically Wet Coast of Canada. Dog was in his element.

Temps have been below freezing at night and 3-4C during the day. Traction is superb.

Squamish is on our list. Watched a video on that long blue trail that would be perfect for the wife and I.

We usually visit the LBS in Squamish on our way to Whistler but never tried the trails. I think @KnollyBro rides there often.

So so many trails here. Better than Whistler in some respects. Certainly a longer riding season.

Well worth a stop. 👍🏻

Definitely worth checking out with so many challenging trails to ride in Squamish but given a choice, I still prefer my park bike and the chairlift on a hot summer day!

And this fellow biker's is the correct way to tighten the Bosch chainring.
No fancy socket or torque wrench.
Just a bloody big rock 🤣
In the days before 1x, I fixed a bent tooth on the big ring using one flat rock as an anvil and a fist sized pebble as the hammer. Then smoothed the edges with a small pebble. Worked a treat for quite a while. Then one day I noticed that the tooth had fallen off! You can see where it used to be in the pic below. The pic is one that I took of a totally worn out ring, positioned in front of its replacement, the work carried out in the car park at Cannock Chase, UK.

Still surprisingly dry, and at 10C very warm for this time of year, so thought a bimble today trying to avoid the worst of the West Sussex mud would be nice. Then saw this which is only 10km from us. - oh, discretion would be the part of valour methinks.

(for the benefit of @The Hodge , SW is where the wind is coming from ;))

If that gentle breeze was all I had to contend with then I would still consider going out for a ride ..😂

Sometimes ( not often mind ) the weather gods work in your favour ..sickened by the fact that Storm Eowyn had torn to shreds our riding plans for yesterday ..I decided last night that fuggit ..I was heading out this morning and looking at the forecast it was going to get worse the longer the day progressed ..
A hard frost welcomed me as I packed the bike & gear into the car at 7.15am in the dark and 1hr 15mins later I was at the trail head in Edmundbyers, Co.Durhan to tackle a Bolts Law there & back ( thankful for the quattro system on my car after turning off onto an un-gritted road which was mainly black -ice after leaving the A68).
Even though the temperature was in the -c's I still wasn't expecting the trail to be anything other than muddy ..but not a bit of it ..frozen solid and the puddles crunchy ice ( is there a better sound while riding a bike 😁?) ..so the pace was lot quicker than I could have hoped for ..as I climbed steadily towards the summit of Bolts Law it became obvious that the blue sky that started the ride wasn't going to last and sure enough low cloud / fog was what greeted me at the top & beyond to the Rookhope road ..where turning back the reward is a 7km ( in the main) drop back ..fantastic !
An unexpected treat was being able to ride on top of the trail in places on 3'deep snow ..packed solid ..
One of the best winter rides Ive ever undertaken ..👌
