I cycled Corryhabbie a couple of years ago back in June Binhill1. I parked just off the B9009, popped up Corryhabbie via Glenfiddich Lodge, then back the same way, peddled down the road to Tomachlaven and then cycled up Ben Rinnes. I’m a bit of a hill bagger so it was great to bag two hills by just riding the ebike right to the top. Wasn’t as cold as your day though.

Nice Bike. Yes I do enjoy that hill , mega fast downhill back to Lodge if you want it to be , knockan bothy down the back worth a look as well . I sometimes do Cooks Cairn then up the back way to Corriehabbie as well . Ben Rinnes yes you can go up the front way as well zig zag through the heather dodgy coming down though. Never tried the Convals on bike . A941 Bridgehaugh is where I normally go in . I see where you went I have went that way , there's a deer farm and loads of gates last time I went there. Yes plenty up there to explore.

Yes, up through the deer farm. The gates were all unlocked but had chains and padlocks hanging on them. So I was glad to find them still unlocked on my return otherwise I would have had a bit of a detour and wouldn’t have managed Ben Rinnes as well. I was staying in Strathpeffer for the week, but the weather that day was poor up that way, was better towards the south,so I decided to head down and bag those two Corbetts with the ebike. Was an enjoyable day out.

Yes ebike and deer fences a bad mix.

Is that a wolf ?
Coyote - big and healthy one. As far as I’m concerned they are a plague. Not so much this guy, his range is wild-slash-natural, but there are a lot than roam the neighborhoods in broad daylight like guilty looking stray dogs. They do keep the small pet population under control. As does the occasional bobcat.

No snow at this elevation but rode in the rain and hail. Wasn’t really ready for that.

Checked out the road damage and ventured down a few trails.

Took a nice little tumble down this trail a few months ago. We’ll call that an extreme rib massage. 😣 ouch.
The other day i had 4 layers on the bottom and 3 on top two pairs of gloves and a buff on my heed. Only my face was cold 🥶 probably only minus 4 c so not that bad .

Hahaha! When I dressed for that ride I realized I had 4 layers on, winter gloves, heavy socks, skull cap, long johns, but no face protection …I said to myself; “self…you are a wuss”! And it was only -2c. Might take a few rides to climitise. 🤷‍♂️

Yes we've had an unseasonal 12 to 14 c for a few weeks it will take a bit of getting used to. Won't keep me in though.

Last night we were hit by a “Bomb Cyclone” in our area. (Off the coast of Vancouver). Cat 3 winds. Power outages, heavy rains, debris, fallen trees etc. should be another interesting ride today. I guess we haven’t had enough after the Atmospheric River(s) from a few weeks ago.

I might need to add a life-jacket to my riding apparel. 🤷‍♂️

My Personal location beacon and survival bag are permanently in the rucksack now . Three people I cycle with are recovering from crashes in recent weeks , slippery roots .Nothing major but I don't fancy two months with no cycling.

Jeez Louise! Atmospheric Rivers... Bomb Cyclones... what phrases will they come up with next to get us to click on the headlines? Nuclear Nor'easter? Cataclysmic Cold Front? Jihadi Jet Stream?

They're predicting similarly labeled catastrophes for us this weekend. It's gonna rain up in the mountains, for sure, so I'll be riding down here in the flatlands.

Meteorologists Gone Wild. I don’t trust those people. But I trust my weather rock. (wet, dry, warm etc)

I just used my helmet light, and its sketchy at speed, depth perception gets thrown way off.

Even had a small off because of such. Helps to know the trails inside and out. But you can still get caught off guard.
I use the bar light and helmet light. Even then it helps to know the trails. Things still look spooky 👻 though.

Looks like a portaloo there as well.
There is! The table was next to a road crossing. This is in the middle of nowhere. Im surprised its even there. No burger vans, but they do life flight a lot of people off the trails. Its funny out of the top ten player in strava in the endurance capitol of the world, 4 are in said pics. It was a fast crowd. These night runs improve our day scores.

Friday Funday in Kielder Forest ..😁
We were supposed to be joining @JFDI tomorrow for a ride in N.Yorks out of Settle but the forecast when we checked a couple of days back was looking well dodgy..so we cancelled ..and it's now been confirmed that Bert is on his way ( that's Storm Bert)..so rather than go without @The EMF and myself decided to get a ride in today ..and what a perfect day to ride 😁
Yes it was cold 🥶..into the -c's but it wasn't wet as there has been no rain for a few days ..so no ice just hoar frost with the trails hard and running fast.
A few pics of Wayne ..the first on the way to the accessible section on the Lonesome Pine Trail..which along with Skydive is now starting to " bed in " nicely 👌

Looking over towards Deadwater..who's trails we would be on a little later..

Wayne on Skydive..which we did twice ..

It was great to see that contractors were working on the very bottom section of this trail ( Bewshaugh) ..which has been closed since Storm Arwen ..but should be open real soon ..
Moving over to the other side of the valley and the Deadwater trails ..
Kielder Village below

The start of Into The Valley ( minus all of the trees..and works better without them )

Two go's at Twist & Shout and the first section of The Osprey Trail concluded a very jolly 3hrs in the company of Mr.Proctor ..
Cheers mate😁👍🏻

PSA..Should anyone reading this be thinking of heading to Kielder tomorrow ..if the weather isn't enough to put you off then be aware that some of the trails will be closed due to this ..
