After replacing almost everything by myself… Not gonna lie I am a bit proud of myself. Changed the wheels, freehub, cassette, derailleur, shifter, saddle, headset, fork, pedals. Also went tubeless.

Next step will be damper, brake discs, brake lever and grips. View attachment 116757
You should've just bought the bike you wanted to start with!

Long one today 32 miles 5000 ft ascent. 4 47 hrs cycling and another 4 stopping looking at maps etc . Fyrish monument near Evanton then up the back of Ben Wyvis . Checked out Black rock gorge seemingly in Harry Potter movie. 1999 the last time I cycled up Fyrish. Scottish anti theft installed.

Early evening ride with @The EMF from Old Bewick on the far Eastern reaches of The Cheviot Hills ..
Fantastic weather & conditions ..the old ruin " Blawearie " has had an extension ( !) ..no doubt offering some form of shelter for the beaters & estate workers on a shooters moor ( partridge rather than pheasant or grouse )
Superb ride and nice pint ( Tyneside Blonde...not the first Ive had 😉)afterwards in the Tankerville Arms ,Eglingham. ( Cheers Wayne 🍻)

Jedburgh next on Saturday ..cant get enough of these dry & dusty trails ..
The eagle eyed among you will have noticed that I forgot to start the recording at Old Bewick ..so slightly more mileage & height gain than shown ☺️

A throughly spiffing jaunt in the early evening yesterday with my good buddy @The Hodge.
Nothing too technical or white knuckle inducing but loads of interesting single track to keep you focused. Marvellous vistas in glorious sunshine. It’s a fabulous county to ride in.
A few pics to add but they don’t do the ride justice.

Yes, it's very interesting isn't it? Fascinating to see the conditions the multinational crew lived in and the tools they used.
There were a load of bows and arrows below deck. The archaeologists and specialist archers determined that the draw was 200lbs! (90kg). No wonder the arrows could punch through armour!
Also, no wonder the archers from that time had over-developed shoulders and arms, almost to the point of deformity.

Go on, I'll add this bit. When the French army caught an English Archer, they cut off their first and second fingers so that they could never draw a bow again! Later on, at the battle of Agincourt, the English archers waved their two intact fingers at the French to demonstrate that they had the capacity to do damage. The raising of the two fingers became a classic hand signal meaning "Fuck Off!"

Just thought I'd share that, ' too good not to. :)

Clandeboye, N Ireland a couple of hours ago.

Yet another beezer day to be out on a bike. Very warm, very dry and paradoxically very muddy in places, but most importantly very enjoyable.

Think I have got the suspension adjusted nicely and the bike is riding really well.

A 17 mile pootle turned into a rather grand day out.

Jedburgh today in the Scottish Borders ..straight away my thanks to Colin who led us around a fantastic ride with some superb woodland singletrack.
Colin is one of our groups elder statesmen / outdoorsman ..and as a retired vet who has worked in this area for a large part of his working career ..what he doesn't know about tracks & trails in Northumberland & The Border region is not worth knowing ..
Sometimes though ( and it can happen at any time ) ..he decides its time for a little nap ..today it just so happened to be as he was cornering a particularly tight bit of singletrack ..but when the mood takes him you've just got to go with the flow ...😉😁
