A bit of explanation.
When I say 10% less oxygen for every 1000m I did not mean that you go from 20.9% to 10.9%, I meant that the O2 content goes from 20.9% to 18.8%. The figure of 10% is an approximation for ease of memory. I went to the data in the spreadsheet that does the calculation and I got the following:
1000m gave a 11.3% reduction in O2, ie approx 10%
2000m gave a 21.5% reduction in O2, ie approx 20%
3000m gave a 30.4% reduction in O2, ie approx 30%

Holiday is over and Im back amongst North Downs finest for a rather gentle but rather enjoyable pootle.

Warm and sunny with perfectly riding trails meant it was another grand day out!

I was riding locally today, not something I usually do because it is flat! (Well, mostly).

This is a pic of the rear entrance to Belvoir Castle in Nottinghamshire, UK Homepage

The location of the cross roads in front of the gate and gatekeeper's lodge is known as "Brewers Grave". Allegedly where, many years ago, the head brewer of Belvoir Castle lies buried. What he did to be buried in an unmarked grave, I have no idea.

The Viking Way (an ancient bridleway) passes right in front of the gates, about where that log and my bike is.
You can see those gates from about 1.5miles away, as a long, straight, road approaches it (it now veers off to the right of the picture). That road is lined both sides with very big trees all regularly spaced. It seems reasonable to assume that this was the approach road for the rear of the castle when it was first built.

North Shore Vancouver. We are fortunate to have a dedicated climbing trail that leads right into one of the most popular BLUE DH trails in the area. The trails take you thru the history of the North Shore and how the Old Growth forest was chopped down in the late 1900s to build houses in the area and more recently shipped off to other countries. Fortunately it rains enough that the forest has returned with many new trees to keep this area such a beautiful place to ride.
