9 years ago I was 'roadie'ing' for ASIA by guitar teching for Sam Coulson and John Wetton, I took this picture while lurking sidestage for guitar emergencies and changeovers at the Sweden Rock Festival..

A 4 day stay at The Dales Bike Centre at Grinton in Swaledale.
An excellent location, with 2 bunkhouses, a workshop and a cafe. Stuart and staff are very keen and helpful and will recommend 'off piste' sections for you to try.

Last ride today was from the bike centre out to Castle Bolton then back via the remote Sweet William bothy, it's in a stunning location.

That's a fair drop down Fremington edge, very loose at the top!
We were introduced to a lovely off piste section of singletrack near the top Great Pinseat, so much to explore in that area.

We rode Great Pinseat / Gunnerside last time we went. Almost knee deep in boggy peat in places, but still had fun!

That last ride looks good, what’s the surface like, I’ve got Mrs after tagging along now and she doesn’t like it too rocky 🙄so I need a different route 🤦‍♂️

The Castle Bolton loop section is going to be your best bet as it's 'mostly' access roads for the estate vehicles. The descent down to Castle Bolton is grassy but quite corrugated and will bounce your eyeballs out.
The Grinton section has rocky sections and definitely requires experience of technical riding.

Enroute to Knoydart had a 7 am blast round Laggan Wolftrax all changed since I was last there ? how did I miss Ayres rock ? . Had a jaunt up Loch Morar to Tarbert track i need to go back as ì was catching a ferry so time was limited. Slummed it on Analogue hill bike from Inverie to the bottom of the hill but saved me 8 miles of walking . Ah cheers that would be my plan I wondered if it was all rideable. Inverie ferry does trips to Tarbert as well so get picked up from there or cycle both ways.

We spent the past 3 weeks in Northern British Columbia helping out on my daughter and son-in-law's new ranch but mostly trading horses for bikes at every opportunity. One evening I spotted a big old griz that we caught a picture on a game camera on the north end of the ranch. After that we encouraged the ranch'es guardian dog to join. My golden doddle also joined us but her temperment is more of a lover not a fighter. As we extended rides into the Bobtail Mountains I soon discovered to take my Garmin maps with a grain of salt and we often spent more time than we wanted pushing the bikes with assistance from the walk mode. Finally, the first sign of summer for me is when I actually see my better half climbing aboard her bike.
