Where ever
nice place to be cracking moorland
you ever go up Countisbury Hill or the other side of Lynmouth
Lynmouth Hill
Used to go up on Exmoor every weekend about twenty years ago, but now I work all over the country so have to find different rides. But been back in Devon now for a month or two, until March where I will be back in Snowdonia for the season. Coed y Brenin will be right on my doorstep. (y)

Another ride from home ..some of the tracks I hadn't visited in a good while ..( talking a few years )..and why that should be I have no idea as they are really enjoyable..but I'm spoilt for choice !

24 miles, 2,140 ft of climbing on a mixture of hard frozen / still snowy / soft & muddy & wet tracks ..even chased down some dead ends which looked promising but then petered out ..

The last few pics are of a bird hide (Skipjack ) at Blackaburn Lough..there was an marked increase in warmth as soon as I walked through the door so seemed like a decent place to stop for a drink & snack and just chill ( not literally ) for a while ....the lough was 3/4 frozen but I hadn't brought my skates ..
Great ride ..just a shame that it couldn't be shared with mates ..

Big ride out across to Shere and Albury on the 22 cycleway and then up to the North Downs Way for return leg. 30 odd miles with over 3200ft of climbing. This picture is at the bottom of the field where they built a dummy cottage for the film "The Holiday" one or 2 of you may have been forced to watch over Christmas by the other half. I quite liked it to be honest :)

Nice ride out today, hoping to do a nice moorland loop, until...

Snow has grip, the ice doesn't.
I was riding along wondering why this normally unused track appeared unusually well travelled.
A few miles further on found the road accessing the valley was completely impassable due to sheet ice on the 1in4

Yes it’s a while since I had it, but by is it welcome on these winter rides. Sounds nice with the cream crackers mushed in though. Nearly as nice as Christmas cake with Stilton ??
It’s a good job we’re in the middle of a lockdown else all the car parks would be full, here today??
