250 sq.miles of it on my doorstep which thanks to the magnificence of an ebike I can be in the thick of within 10 minutes of leaving my front door ..
When all of this crap is over you should all come up and I will show you around ( not offering to pay for accommodation though ?) ..
I know how you lot think now ?
Good to see you up an about again :)(y)

Its the other way around Zimmer ..my Mrs ( possibly/ probably / almost certainly ..depending on which family member you happen to be in our house ) caught it from myself but has suffered and still is a lot lot worse than I ever was ..so from the point of view of someone getting relief ..that would be me after changing my Doctors kit for mtb and escaping for a few hours ..that little bell she insists on ringing every 30 seconds has been getting right on my tits ..
( only joking love ..if you happen to see this ..) ?‍⚕️➡️?‍♂️?

Little pedaling. Mostly walking (slipping on ice) and lifting bike.
And phone battery crashed in the cold, so i missed the planned track down. It became a steeeeep climb of walking and sliding ?

Nowhere near Paul ?..but I can point you in the direction of reasonably priced accommodation if it ever came to you wanting to visit ..
I'm thinking about how to logistically put together a bothy weekend for this summer ( more where to charge batteries ) ..There are 4 good bothies within a max 30 miles between them locally ..and some great riding to take in between them ..
We did a similar thing on normal mtbs a few years back and it was brilliant .
Its on the back-burner at the moment but will post a separate thread nearer the time ..

Look out GrandPa, there's a pterodactyl chasing you!!!
Haha wrong movie dude. I was crossing that rope bridge to visit my mate King Kong on the other side. He moved to NZ a few years ago... when they shot a remake with Peter Jackson. He’s been here ever since, not far from Hobbiton actually... ?

"they shot a remake"
Is that the one with the big teeth like a pterodactyl?
I wondered why you keep mentioning a pterodactyl (had to look up what the heck it is, ha) so I went back to look at my photo. Ah, I've always assumed that bird was just a hawk, but come to think of it... scale wise, it looks pretty big doesn't it! Crumbs!

Oh well, Kingy can deal to it...
How crazy is that! The scene was actually in the B&W original film when I checked!!
Naomi Watts must've objected and refused to sign her contract unless they took the scene out.

As usual... we digress. Although that ledge does look like a great trail to ride (close-call thread context save)... (y)?

It looks further away than you, and it still looks far bigger than you and your bike!
Are you sure it was just a hawk?
I’ve only seen hawks as the largest birds of prey over here. But I’m no bird expert. Could’ve been an Albatross but I don’t think they go this far in land. The biggest bird NZ had was a Haast Eagle but I’m told those went extinct before European migration began.
I’m pretty sure it’s a hawk soaring between the bridge and where the photo was taken. It has to be, or you be giving me nightmares!
