Gentle pootle around Bangor, Co Down as Im easing back onto the bike after an injury. I just can't articulate just how much I love riding my new ebike and how much it means getting out for a pootle! And of course a coffee and bun helps!

You had me really confused for a while there as I desperately searched for your bike in the water or trees ... until I realised you meant the other Right - also known as Left ...

Here is what looks like two shots, but the second is actually a zoom in of the first one. What you are looking at is a section of trenches from World War One built by troops in training. The zig-zag trenches are coming down the centre of the picture. If not for the mtb activity, these would be completely grown over (as they used to be).

It is astonishing how much is still there after more than hundred years of weather erosion, and the planting and harvesting of trees over so many years. No doubt the trench sides were steeper and the trenches themselves would have been much deeper when they were originally dug out by hand. They are protected now, so those trees will remain untouched until one falls.

Where is this? It's a trail to the left of the Bike park (as you descend) at Sherwood Pines, near Old Clipstone, UK.

He was known as "Sergeant Short Handle" .. he always failed to secure his shovel to the back of the wagon properly. It would drop down and drag along wearing the handle shorter ...

(That probably wouldn't make any sense unless you've read a lot of old threads which often involved tassels ...)
