Good day out by the looks of it.Great turnout today up at Kielder ..7 riders for a bit of a mix-up of parts of the Lonesome Pine / Deadwater & Osprey trails ..well I say seven but that number soon dropped down to six as we somehow managed to lose Colin very early in the ride with absolutely no idea how it happened..we spent a good while re-tracing our tracks but to no avail we never did see him again ( however it transpires that he got ahead of us when we did the section of Deadwater ).
It goes without saying that we are all sorry to have missed you Colin .
A few pics .. L to R Jaco , Phil ..followed by Dave & Ant ..
Wayne still waiting at the bottom to see if Colin appeared

There are a couple of little humps where it's possible to get a "little bit of air" ..as you turn down to Fams Bridge ..with the emphasis on "little" ..
Trying to capture that on a pic is next to impossible ..or my timing is crap !

Never seen a contraption like that before ..and the bike rack looks unusual tooNew rack day! Sold the Toyota Tacoma in favor of something a little more economical and had to get a bike rack for it. North Shore Bike Racks are one of the most reliable methods of transport and with a few mods, you can use a U-Bolt lock with it to make it pretty secure.

The Pipe is used to hold the U Bolt locks up off of the ground and in a difficult location to stop lock cutters from getting at the lock. Nothing trumps an angle grinder unfortunately

Haha, these pedestrians from the old country have no idea what it's like to have to go off road to get to a trail head head to park your "car". I am SURE they would ride the extra 10km up the FSR as their street cars would get caught up in the water bars and their racks would shake off their bikes too!Forget about those naysayers. They might have bike-rack-envy.
But the Subaru Cross Trek is the ultimate MTB ride imo. We’re also trading in the Toyota next year for the Cross Trek…but the hybrid model when that is available. We use a different bike rack though. 2” hitch.

Three Cross Treks park at our trail head on a regular basis. They all have the lift-kit mod. And they travel in packs .Haha, these pedestrians from the old country have no idea what it's like to have to go off road to get to a trail head head to park your "car". The Taco was great but just too big for me to drive around in the city and such a waste for one person for 90% of the time. The Crosstrek is perfect but the 18 year old boy in me wants to put in a lift kit and KO2s!
I came full circle from an STI

With our Torridon trip getting ever closer..and with the prospect of four consecutive rides in mountainous terrain ..I thought I'd better get this lardy arse used to more than the current one ride weekly ..so headed out of the door for the second ride of the weekend in the area of Kielder Forest closest to me ..Pundershaw / Allerybank & Roughside..I had intended spending time clearing sections with fallen trees ( at least enough branches to gain passage ) ..but that fell by the wayside after the first section when I lost my folding saw out of my backpack..totally gutted ..

Oh, it never rains in Southern CaliforniaIt was a lovely day to ride in Socal.
Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Leonardo Dicaprio, Kim Kardashian... they all have/had houses in town. But none of them rode these trails. All that money and no mountain bikes. What a waste!

You’re going to have a fantastic time up there, Hodge, with a gang of blokes who all still think they’re 30 years old.

I’ve got a mental picture of you all sitting round a campfire drinking beer, telling crap jokes, eating beans, and having a farting competition!

A danish bar tender served a mix of these two. Sound strange, looked strange but did not taste bad. With our trip to Torridon fast approaching I’d thought I’d get my shandy ass into gear for some apree’ trail riding practice……….font care about camp fire niceties

Well, no Cidre in Denmark and this sounds like the perfect @Zimmerframe drink! But liquorice beer decent?Black velvet..usually done with cider ( not lager) in these parts ..
Spoils a decent pint of Guinness in my opinion 🫣
