Can't be ..I don't recognise any of those snaps ..?
Are you having a good time and whereabouts are you ?
Good time? Yes and no.
3 days in Otterburn. Stunning scenery, friendly folks, and nice to be able to go in pubs again. Rode on the Ranges, lots of history there. A good day out to see Alnwick and the coast. Yesterday was at Keilder, and as I haven’t been on anything more challenging than local bridleways, the plan was to warm up on Osprey and then Deadwater. I had a nightmare ....overshooting turns, braking wrong, several near misses, confidence shot. So I left Deadwater and rode the Lakeside instead. Might call in at Sherwood Pines on the way home and see what happens.
Highlight of the trip? Pub grub one night was a Hodgepodge Pie which was obviously named after you!?

Glad you enjoyed the scenery & the food Bill ...
The Osprey Trail for a route graded blue is more challenging than folks think ..I've seen families with young kids & buggy trailers on there and I've done my best to warn them of what's to come ..it really should be graded as a red ( flow trail )
Deadwater ..its a good red which gets easier once you know it ..riding it for the first time solo ..well I can understand how it could be pretty easy to cock things up !
We might well have bumped into each other but for a last minute change of plan as it was our original intention to ride at Kielder for Alex's first ride in over a year ..but at the very last minute decided on Hamsterley..
By the sound of it you seem to be heading back home soon ..myself and possibly EMF are riding the Border Ridge from Upper Coquetdale on Monday and you would be welcome to join us ...
Oh ..err..that Hodgepodge pie ..leftovers from the Hodgson household ..collected weekly ?
Edit ..EMF confirmed but we aren't starting the ride until 5.00pm .

Going home now so will have to miss out on seeing EMF fall into a puddle. Will be coming back up on my own later in the year, so maybe then.
You must eat well in your house cos the pie was delicious ??

It was to start with. Lovely
Went down the hill and well, it all went downhill.
I guess all the water had too ?

TubbyG’s neck of the woods I think.

Yes it is, but I don’t do the K2 climb, I start the red at the fire road going up to the top of Sutton Bank from just after Boltby, and then ride home after the rock garden descent through Boltby Woods. How’s the descent from the moors down to the woods? Sloppy I bet after all the rain ?

This little section was a mo’fo today. Doesn’t look like much but parts of it were 10 and 11% grades. UGH. Felt as though I walked the bike more than rode it today.

Ever have those friends who are friends with the most Stainless Steel cyclists in your town/area? Yah, my riding buddy asked THAT GUY about this. His response, “yah, it’s pretty cool”.

Pretty cool my arse. It was torture. Meant only for those God-like SOBs who can pedal 100 mile days unassisted.
