OK...the hype is real, this bike is brilliant. For context I am coming from a Pivot Shuttle and Focus Jam2 29 (both Shimano e8000). The ep8 rs has plenty of power and is buttery smooth. You will work a little harder but it translates to much better control and the additional effort is nominal. The bike is lite and you can manual like it was a an analogue bike. In all honestly I could barely manual on either of my other 2 bikes. The engine is quiet in full stride but the noise (clacking) is also real...its there and omnipresent so be prepared (rob any thoughts here?). Its a trail bike, to be sure, quad pot brakes, marginal travel, lightweight components...its very capable but has its limitations. Tires have to go...a Recon has no place on this bike but I am sure they did it to save weight...I can live with the Dissector for now but DHF and DHR2 will go on ASAP.
Dont have range specs yet and I am running the junction box with no computer but I will try and calculate in hours when I take a longer ride.
Etube app works as advertised...I wish you could change the assist profiles on the fly but I don't think you can with the junction box.

for those who ordered be excited, you will be pleased...thats it for now...more to come

I did substitute 4 piston brakes on my build and will put a 203mm rotor up front.

I have questions

#1. Has anyone weighed an XL? Can the XL be brought down <40 Lb? closer to 37 would be ideal. My current regular bike with 130/150 travel weighs 37 lb with DH tires, so a 37 lb weight would be just super.

#2. How quiet is the motor? I have only demoed the Levo SL (SUPER loud) and the Kenevo (quietest yet). I also see lots of eBikers around me, when they blow by it sounds like a bee hive is on the move. Is the Rise quieter than the Levo? Can you "stealth" it around on the ups? Quiet motors are unbelievably important to me, and trump utterly everything else. Bigly.

#3. if you pull the battery, is the bike "rideable"? Let me be clear. I can pull the battery on a Levo or Kenevo, but I think it would be a bad idea to ride it because of the open frame tube at the bottom. One hit on the frame could dent that battery tube and then it'll have to be bent back just to get the battery back in there. Not good! Levo SL supposedly can ride without the battery, but I haven't looked at that in detail. So, the question is: if you remove the battery on the Rise, are you willing to go shred some rough trails?

#4. is there any drag on the cranks? On my kenevo, if I pull the rear wheel or chain, I can feel the drag of the motor when spinning the pedals. Definitely not freely spinning! How about the Rise?

Thank you!! I especially especially want to know about being able to stealth ride around without a loud bee-hive motor. If the EP8 is quieter than a levo, I might take the multi-thousand dollar hit to sell my Kenevo and trade in.

The Rise and the Kenevo really aren't similar though. The Kenevo is an enduro/big-hit bike where as the Rise is more of an all-mountain/trail bike. Not sure you'd be happy with the switch if you like the long travel option. Maybe a Rotwild R.E375 would be a better fit for you if you want an EP8 and lighter weight.

Thanks. I'm adaptable and like bikes of all kinds. I'd really like to know the answers to the questions above!

1. A large is 41lbs and change with pedals (m-10) a team would probably get you under 40 (i dont have the most accurate scale)
2. Its quieter than an e8000 but louder than a levo...it only whines at full cadence in boost,
3. I wouldn't ride it without a battery because you are still dragging around 40lbs but with that said its "rideable" but by no means optimal
4. The least amount of drag of any motor to date IMO

1. Which tyres? And tubed or tubeless? Thx
Edit; you said Recon and Dissector earlier in the thread. But tubed or tubeless?

tubeless...and I have to say the recon/dissector pair is growing on me...very fast rolling and light
probably not mud worthy but pretty fun

I think you guys will love the Rise.
My Orbea feels like it's dragging a boat anchor compared to the TranceE. I wish I could trade e-powa on them.

Orbea builds a very nice bike.

What software/app are you using to adjust the settings? The standard Shimano eTube app? A quick search on the iOS App Store didn't show any Orbea-specific apps...

Did you weigh with your pedals or without? if so, what is the estimated weight of your pedals? Thx :)

Thank you!

XL is too heavy then still. Bummer! 8k for a bike is a stretch but doable, but I just can't justify the 5 figures of what it would take to get it under 40.

I figure the battery is probably about 5 pounds, so batteryless (at a 40 lb weight) it would still be lighter than my regular bike :). Even your bike at 41 in change, without the battery, is probably just where my regular bike is at 37 lb. :) The Rise could be used with just a range extender for "light" days, or batteryless and ride like my regular bike. Almost. Would have to start around 39. But if the bike is 42 lb to begin with, it'll never get to my regular bike weight no matter what. Add the DH tires and it's just too much to make up.

but the real issue (for me) would be that noise. My kenevo also whines a little at full cadence in boost, but at moderate cadence in trail it's near-silent, and that is the vast majority of my riding. No other bike I've been on can touch that. That's huge.

Sounds like I stick with my 57 lb Kenevo for now. The perfect tech will probably "arrive" right when my bike is worth about $1500 used :( :)

i weighed it again with help from a friend and it was closer to 39 (like i said my scale is not that accurate)...i will get a hanging scale and report back...I also ordered a fox factory Kashima dropper so that will shed a few grams
In fairness, At low cadence the bike is literally silent
I am not selling it but I want to make sure you have the right information...the bike is sick and rides very light, i mean like an analogue bike...

First ride out on my M10 today. Really nice ride apart from all the mud. First Ebike I've owned so the lower power wasn't an issue to me. Tyres have definitely gotta go though. Was hoping to put my Reserve wheels with an Assegai and DHR2 straight on there but I need some new end caps for the front, forgot about the torque caps that were on. Had it on the scales and it came in at 18.3kg. It's an XL and it has Burgtec MK5 pedals on. Did a 24 mile ride with about 2200ft of climbing and drained 60% of the battery although I did keep it in turbo for the last 2 mile up the hill back home.

Can anyone find a link or know if there’s an SRAM compatible chainring for this bike?

Congrats, looks sweet! Anyone know if there’s a SRAM compatible chainring for this bike/cranks? I tried searching, but nothing came up.

Thanks, can't help you on the chainring question as I can't say I've looked. One of the reasons for getting this bike was because of the shimano drivetrain. Not a fan of Sram to be honest

I’ve never tried the Shimano 12 speed, but have no complaints about SRAM Eagle. After going AXS it’s hard to go back to analog. Not a bad weight, assuming the wheels are TL? Can I ask your height/inseam? This won’t be a bike that’s readily available to throw a leg over to check sizing anytime soon.

I'm 6'2 with a 34" inside leg, well that's what trouser leg I buy ?. I do have the dropper slammed as far down as it'll go, it's fine but if I could I'd probably drop it another 5mm but it's not a massive issue
