Orbea Rise , anyone seen one yet ?

I wanted to buy the Orbea Rise but I bet light weight bike frames will break faster doing jumps, drops etc.... I went for the Haibike Xduro 2.0. It weighs 23kg, has 80nm, a 500W swappable external battery & is more sturdy. And the best part I only payed 2800$.- ?

Also, wonder if they would ever do a firmware update to bring out a ‘party mode’ unleashing the full 85Nm ?
to this day I do not understand why they needed to limit it on power except for the range anxiety that people get. I am not sure if many ride like I do, but I ride in ECO almost all the time, but when needed, I want that turbo. I think with the option to have a turbo, they would be flying off the shelf at that low weight. For that reason, My M-10 FS Wild is due to arrive on the 2nd of February.

So you’re saying the wait to get your Rise would be Sept 2022, instead of Oct 21?

I was told two reasons. One is the battery capacity as you mentioned, it would make range bad and second it means they can use regular 12 speed drive train components and not have the higher torque chew through them in a couple of weeks.

If it makes things a little better, maybe Orbea isn’t the only bike with this issue. I stopped by my LBS today to ride the Levo SL (demo) around the streets to get another feel for it and the same part is broken. I looked down only to see the charging port was left open and noticed it wouldn’t stay closed and they had tape on it. I’m not sure how similar of a part they are, but clearly the same issue.
on my sl the salesman broke it when i bought the bike, no big deal i thought just buy a new part, wrong , the only option seems to be buy a whole new harness just to use the charge port door, they look very similar if not identical

And because Battery Cells are rated 10A maximum average.

Limiting torque will limit current.

I received my Rise last week, M10 in Large. I live in the south Lakes and have previous been riding a titanium hardtail but I wanted something to help with the steeper and longer climbs as I tend to do a bit of winch and plummet. I've only ever ridden a couple of hundred meteres on my friend's E-Sommet a year ago and I wasn't really sold on that as it felt cumbersome. I'm relatively fit, so just wanted something to help with the climbs while still getting a workout.

I've done a couple of rides and I love it. Having not ridden a FF EBike other than that 200m, I find the power assistance just right. I've been riding exclusively in Profile 1 and mostly in trail with only using boost for steeper climbs like on the Walna Scar. I like the stripped back cockpit, although I was a bit dissapointed that the only way to get a battery percentage is on a Garmin device (I previously ran a Wahoo Bolt) as the ETube app only shows you number of bars not a %.

I've got a pair of Assegai's to put on as the tyres that it came with are pretty useless for the short wet grass and chunky rocks I ride on.

Having a few days off the bike as on the last ride, I came off avoiding a suicidial sheep and split my forehead and broke my helmet.

Once I get back on the bike, I'll try it out in profile 2 with the new tyres on. Hoping that a slightly more powerful Trail mode in profile 2 will be just right for most of my riding.

I've found profile 2 better , you don't actually get full boost on the default setting in profile 1 , and whilst I don't use full boost very often it's great fun to have the full 60nm . In profile 2 I've tweaked the nm up just one bar in eco , I've found I can use eco more then and I'm less likely to use trail until it's really needed . Maybe that's just my fitness right now but it seems to work for me and not affecting battery range at all . Profile one seems to me to be geared up for long steady days out , which is great option if that's your plan .

I set mine to Profile2 straightaway and haven’t used Profile1. I assume Profile1 is aimed at eeking out the battery charge for longer rides.

Just a few thoughts straight out the gate after picking up new M10;

Finish and looks are excellent a classy product for sure. Found the charger flap ok but few manufacturers have really nailed this. Nice firm click on starter button.

Stickers came off carbon top tube ok with a little patience. Invisiframe now available in XL so on order.

XT shifting firm and precise if a little loud on the clunk, hope it will bed in over time. Fox 36 and rear shock are very slightly on the firm side of plush but having come off a 25kg lump I just think there’s less mass to soak things up and just needs a ‘feel’ adjustment my end. New 200mmXT rotors front and back and no squealing. Quite progressive almost SRAM like - so brake wise happy.

Manoeuvrability is so much improved on the move and lugging into and out the car and up Victorian steps to house is a relative joy especially as I have a bad back. Game changer. Walk function quite frisky on the lighter bike so useful.

Shoved into mode 2 straight away and maxed up all settings - coming of a FF you just have to ! But have to say in boost there’s some grunt there. I’d add that because of the reduced mass of the bike it sort of feels more like Trail + on a FF if that makes sense. If coming from analogue this motor will be plenty I can guarantee that. If only it had a 20mph limiter it would be a bloody good all round compromise so I think Orbea’s overall approach is a pretty fair stab all being said. There is an engine rattle but not a clatter - with the sweet sounding hub ticking away behind you don’t overly focus on it. Overall not a show stopper just annoying for the more pedantry of us ?

Contact points need changing hate the Fizik saddle so Ergon will go on along with some death grips.New alloy dmr pedals look cool and match the xt 12 speed out back. Reach feels less in XL than expected so at 189-190 Cm height the bike doesn’t feel overly large or stretched. The 29ers look good in the XL frame. Very slightly upright in feel for me.

Tad inaccurate but with back wheel up on bathroom scales looking at 18.86 kg with pedals, tubeless and a DHR 2 with exo+ plus for the rear boot. more sturdy in feel than an analogue mtb but without the extra 6kg heft of a FF. Compared with an Ezesty I’d say more grunt and wider power band (In boost), and very marginally heavier in feel, more solid.

Sorry to waffle on but hope of interest to the waiverers ? Go for it

Glad you’re enjoying it, I find it gets better each time I go out and as I get more used to it, as it’s a first emtb for me.
Did yours come with 200mm rotors or was that an upgrade?

The difference isn't significant and Orbea managed to develop a very efficient powertrain.

Did yours come with 200mm rotors or was that an upgrade?
I def recommend swapping the front and rear rotor to 203 and rear tire...I am actually running Dissector front and rear and it performs well...more confidence and control

That’s interesting so adjusting around 20% for the larger battery the Rise battery is similar to an equivalent 500 watter which is what Orbea claimed it would be

Sure thing! And by the way, the orbea has plenty of power/torque to climb down any steep hill. Only noticeable difference between the power on those bikes is having to shift more on the orbea. It's like a 250 Cc dirt bike vs a 450 cc.

I sold my Garmin watch last year so have no way of seeing the battery %. I can see the bars on the shimano app but would be interesting to see the %!

The bike should’ve come with the Shimano display imo as it’s excellent and discrete, it wasn’t even offered as an option for some reason. Have gone for a Garmin 130 instead.

Got my Rise last week, and was absoultey loving it, amazing bike.
Wish it had an option for a mullet setup.

i have had one BIG issue with it though.
If anyone has had something similar and can shine any light on it that would be really helpful.
also, perhaps a warning to other Rise users, it wasn't being pushed that hard and it was a long walk back.

I borrowed a Quarq ShockWiz and resetup my air pressures based on my riding sytle. Ended up with 67 PSI in the fork and 182 PSI in the rear shock. And all the LSC, HSC, LSR, HSR clicks on the fork were way off on from what Fox suggests. Rides a lot smoother now.

I saw a Rise in person today. My LBS got a Medium mint green one in to show off. It's so beautiful. What a cool looking bike in person. I didn't get a chance to ride it for real, but sat on it in the shop and had fun with turning on walk mode while sitting on it. That was fun! Unfortunately the next ones coming in aren't until June and July. A large white one in June and the one I ordered, coal blue XL, in July.

The blue one in my opinion is far more classy looking than this one. It’s a beautiful bike, even my motorbike living brother thinks the frames sexy?

Interesting! I’ve now added a third volume spacer in the fork as well as swapping out the shock spacer to the larger grey one. I’m now on 80psi fork and 208shock, and it’s all feeling a lot better now, although I’m sure there’s room for more fettling. Although that’ll have to wait, too much snow and ice at the mo.

What's your weight all geared up?

In general, Fox stuff sets up best with LSC and HSC nearly open front and rear - or at least as a good starting point. Which direction did you change from starting position on LSR/HSR?

I just took a chunk of air out as per some of the comments above and set more sag than initially recommended and now is super plush off the top. Was thinking of hiring Shockwiz for a week to set compression and rebound as can’t get to proper trails right now

My analog/acoustic weight is 153lbs, my guess all geared up would be 160lbs with a water bottle too.

The documented suggestions I found for 150-160 lbs:
~78psi
LSR: 7 Clicks
HSR: 6 Clicks
HSC: 5 Clicks
LSC: 10 Clicks

The ShockWiz setting were
66-68 PSI
LSR 1
HSR 5
HSC 3
LSC 5
