the crocs of recovery :D they are easy on the legs eh...
Ive had knee problems in the past with rugby but strengthening the area sorted that out.
this is different so I might end up at the quacks soon, last time they gave me naproxen and that stuff sucks...

Yup, for me .. more riding .. endless knee pain from skiing injuries - riding !

I think I know where you're coming from though. I tried several pairs of pads and some seemed to induce pressure on the knee which was crippling - not to the point of bad fashion - but still crippling.

yea im with you and @The Hodge, the worst thing you can do is nothing! keep using it but make sure its not too much..

I was using POC VPD 2 pads and I was (once again) right between sizes and opted for the smaller of the two sizes.. probably a bad move but I didnt want them slipping.
now I have Sam Hill knee pads and while ive not ridden in them yet they are comfortable to the point where you forgot you have them on. I did the customary thing of wearing them around the house for an hour to make sure :D

I have the same. I honestly never notice I have them on at all when riding. When others are stripping their pads off on climbs or on the way back, I'm oblivious. The back of one of mine has torn up from rear pedal strikes and is a pig to get off when hot. If you peal the tops down a couple of inches they're generally easy to get off even when hot - unless they're torn up and catch on your heel ... That one is a pig and needs fixing/replacing.

Sometimes, no idea why, you put them on and can feel them. I think it's when they're colder. Once they warm up, they're fine.

and just like that, for no good reason, there goes my riding this weekend..
I dont know if anyone has experienced this but I had really painful knees after one particular ride where my kneepads seemed to be interfering with the movement of my kneecap, that was about a month ago and ive not recovered from it.
bought new kneepads and hoping that after some rest, that will cure the problem.

Hey Dobby, I wish you fast recovery.
FWIW, I had aching knees for years.

My sport-physio told me that when I exercise, eg. cycle, run or squat, my outer edges of my feet must be parallel. It actually feels like my big toes are slightly pointing inwards, but it works, at least for me!

mine are all over the place mate, I have to think hard if I want to be parallel.. but its usually my left foot that does that since I dislocated my left hip :D

A few years ago I felt my knees would hurt on some rides and be ok on other ones, paying more attention I noticed that the pain happened whenever the ride started to the left from my door, wich is downhill and never if it started going uphill.
So, warming up the legs with a slow uphill effort, even for only one or two minutes is my routine on every ride. I do not strech before.
After starting to ride the ebike the pain would be back on some occasions, even though its suspension is much softer than on my other bikes. I am convinced its due to dropping the hammer on occasions when I input power expecting to have motor assistance and this does not happen, either because its above the speed or in the wrong power mode (eco when it should be trail or bust)
This happens when exiting a bend or riding on slopy trails when after a DH trying to keep speed for the next uphill.

Top job Dobbs.

Once again achieving the impossible with "Chilled Excitement !"

Despite not being on an electric, I suspect it was Ryan's Sphincter muscles which had the largest work out .. :)

I normally like to have a rotor tool to remove those slight imperfections ..

Turned 62 today, just got my Emtb last week, I can't shred the down hill if I can't get to the top.
Started racing CX at 53, still do it, ride trails and parks year round at night.
You don't stop living because you are old, you get old when you stop living.
Cant argue with that ...Happy Birthday ..have a good one..?

When I'm pedaling, my knee pads are very loose, i just tighten the shin pads. This east they don't exert any pressure on the knee cap.

just said goodbye to a true gentleman taken too soon. Privileged to have been able to take to the field with him for a number of (not enough) years. The sorrow in the small town I live in is intense and no one has the words to describe how they feel.

RIP Arwel (The Ferret)

So sad to lose a good friend (been there ,done that) but also we should use it as a kick up the arse to get the most out of life whilst we can, instead of wasting time worrying about shit that doesn’t matter.

out with the boy yesterday, so far we've ridden natural forest and the Beacons etc.. only his 5th(ish) ride on the Levo and I'm amazed by how quick he is already, wont be long at all before I'm simply getting in his way.
this was his first ride on a man made trail.. loved it

Blimey Dobs you were flying there in a few places, add in some impressive lateral moves and fearless water skiing which would suggest you're possibly a direct descendant of Jesus. Not sure I'd have kept that pace going over some of that terrain with enough water up my arse to make a jelly fish feel uncomfortable.
