Hi Guys,
Always a tool at Christmas :)
Changing tyres, tubleless installs and removing cassettes quite regularly , I was going to buy the Park Tool WH-1 bench/ vice wheel holder . which I know is good , but it is a bit pricey at £134.00 , but its good kit I know.
So I thought I would make my own , made from a gate hinge , cut to size , then bent and welded ( badly by me ) :) , I bought a 15mm and 12mm pit bike axles , which are drilled in the ends and bought a 8mm threaded handle and some M8 penny washers.
Result is pretty good, certainly heavy duty :) , can switch between 12mm and 15mm , and switch between vertical , angle and horizontal positions.
Makes working on my wheels so much easier, especially re-taping and filling.
Can either be mounted in a vice or bolted to a bench.
Cost
Gate Latch £10.00
Pit bike axles £8.00
M8 threaded handle £1.99
M8 Penny Washers 50 off £2.80

Total £23 , what I saved bought two new tyres and some more sealant ( Orange ) .

Sweet! I love homebrew solutions. You get extra points for the paint and sticker. Actually, at first glance I thought it looked off-the-shelf (with the exception of the custom welds. 😁😁😁 But in the unlikely event that one ever breaks, I'm sure it's guaranteed for life.

I need one of these in my life. I ruined my hands and back putting on some Rimpact tyre inserts over the last two days.

I love your dedication to your Santa look for the kids, hopefully tomorrow you'll be able to slide them either down or up and free them from your xmas stuffed belly - maybe use some soap. ;)

Been up since 6am with a 5 and 8 year old. My house is in complete chaos. The early morning dizziness and sick feeling is starting to die down, just now waiting when to have first alcohol of the day and start munching.
Thank god for elasticated Santa trousers.
