New Giant Bike, What Comes With It?

Just got a new Giant Stance, first ebike, curious what is supposed to come with the bike? I bought the bike off of Giants website, had it shipped to a local dealer for pick up. lets say the joy of getting a new bike was tempered by picking it up at a shop that didn't seem very happy about the transaction. No "congratulations," no "any questions on the bike?," no instructions on operation, other than "this is the on off switch," just "sign here, thanks," (they were nice enough to hold the door open when I left with the bike). Other than the charger, I got nothing. I asked for an owners manual, they gave me a manual from 2011 ( great instructions on how to adjust rim brakes...).
I emailed Giant, still waiting on a reply.
So, if you bought a Giant ebike recently, what accessories were supplied with your bike?

I got a Stance E+2 a month or so ago. Came with charger, adaptor for charging battery off the bike.
Also came with a bell, and 2 reflectors (one white, one red), along with a bunch of spacers and screws. There are 3 manuals. Owners manual, Hybrid user manual, and a Suntour fork manual.

That doesn't sound great, I'd expect to get a manual as a minimum.
You need to be fair though, why on earth would a bike shop that sells Giants be happy about you using them as a drop service? Could you not have ordered it through them? Maybe not, bikes are like bloody gold dust at the moment. But if that's the case, can you imagine being the dealer in this scenario:

Giant UK: Sorry LBS, don't have any bikes for you at the moment, things are pretty tough from the supply side.
LBS: OK, but we really need that income to keep the business going, let us know when the next shipment comes in.
Giant UK: No problem. Hey, we've just sold a bike on our website though. We'll ship it to you, you can PDI it and look after the buyer, OK?
LBS: Er, what now?

When you unplug the charger from your battery that thing is a cap to protect the unplugged plug.

When I got my Trance in 2019 it came with a load of manuals, most of which were either out of date or referred to bikes in general, electric or not.

Some of the manuals just repeated things from the other manuals, and the information about the battery and charger was from the previous generation, so I had to get the LBS to contact Giant about what sequence of lights should show when charging as it was completely different to what the manual said.

The only useful ones were for the Fox forks/shock and the seatpost.

It did not have reflectors but it did come with a basic/useless bell and a tubless tyre kit, which the LBS set up for me.

Just got one over the weekend for the wife, or for a spare for guests.
They don't come with extras - just the charger.
Manuals are online.

Have fun with it, they're a great bike.

Dave, thanks for the response, just got off the phone with the shop, got the regular excuses, they have the extras waiting for me, another drive to the store...

I think the blame here should go to Giant UK who are playing both fields (online and LBS).
Which unavoidably will create channel conflict.
Giant Canada does not seem to do this, their website points you to the nearest LBS that has that bike you're looking at in stock.

Sorry chap, not trying to be a dick here. And absolutely, it's a lottery getting anything at the moment. I've spent tons recently on stuff i'd normally have ordered through the LBS, just cause I know he's got no chance of getting it in. Not blaming you, just pointing out that some dealers are going to be less than happy at loosing a massive amount of margin. Sure he's pissed at Giant, not you, but there you are. Especially if it's an ebike where the likelihood of warranty support is higher. If it was me, I'd be plastering on a fake smile and trying to sell you some upgrades

I bought mine from an actual Giant dealer and my experience wasn't much better.

Bike Manual
Fork and Shock Manual
Pedals
Tubeless Kit - I had mine setup tubeless so I had 2 x inner tubes in the box
Reflectors - Front and Back
Bell
Bits of plastic for putting in brake callipers when wheels are off.

Each shop is different I guess.

Doesn't look long enough for a serial #, and the registration page isn't accepting it. So where is it? .

I think it's different by region. Canada = no display on Stance.

No ride dash as Dave said, no display on Stance in the U.S. (at least, not on mine).
The number I found on the seatpost tube is the S/N. Reason the registration wasn't accepting it, I was entering a 1 as an I.

MTB's are built for offroad and competition use only - they are not setup for road, so no reflectors come with them. Mountain bikes also do not come with pedals, so if you got reflectors or stamped pedals, your dealer threw them in to deliver the bike. MTB users want to install their own brand and style of pedals.

A control display has not come on Giant bikes since 2018 or so, however there is an optional display available if you want that instead of the app on your smartphone. There may be a model or two in certain countries that do come with a display, but US bound bikes don't have them.

Once the bike is assembled the caliper shims are generally tossed.

The charge pigtail comes with the bikes that have the 500w+ packs.

They don't come with manuals anymore - that stuff is online.
Service manual here for Sync-drive bikes, attached.

You don't need a serial number to setup the smart-app.

The person might just be close to a burnout. Things are crazy, floors are empty, they have tons of phone calls from
people begging for a bike. Here some good shops stopped answering the phone.
2 years old bikes are sold for the price of new ones. Enjoy !

I am in Canada and it might be a legal requirement but last July my 2020 Giant Stance E came with flat pedals, reflector front and rear and a bell. A few years ago there would have been no bell. It has a minimalist display with a few lights to show energy available and assist mode selected. I kind of like that, no distraction and very unlikely to be damaged in a fall.

We drove 200 miles to a dealer than had ONE Stance E left in M. The '21 Stance is every bit as nice as my '19 Trance. In fact, I like the ergos a little better on the Stance. I put a tape on them, the stem is right about the same height, but the top bar, seatpost, and wheelbase are all shorter on the M Stance. I have a riser stem and bars on my Trance, and it still sits lower - it's a L.

I'm not so sure the maestro suspension is that big of deal on a ebike - the assist makes up for any pedaling advantage. The 29er is really nice too - my OCCAM is a 'niner. It's ergos are nearly identical to the Stance.

Presently i own a medium 2020 Stance E + and i love the wide 35 rims in 27.5. I enjoyed the 2.6 it came with for our dry summer but switched to 3.0 wich i love. I would have liked the 2021 to stay with 35 mm rims but they went quite narrower. For where i ride the 130/120 suspension is nice. I just enjoy the reliability, 9 months zero issue and witout a car it gets used almost daily

Same here.
Some models do not show that they come with pedals. USA Reign is an example.

Not quite right Browneye - Every new MTB I’ve had over the years has come with manuals, pedals (albeit cheap crap ones) reflectors and a bell, once I even got lights. Possibly it is UK law to have reflectors, bell etc.

The dealers website said no pedals but it came with shrink wrapped flats.

I still have manuals in the shed from bikes I haven’t owned for years. They should save tress as all of the relevant stuff for particular models is online anyway.

Serial number is on the underside of the top tube, but as Browneye says, not required for app as it’s a Bluetooth paring.
