Used to do Paragliding. Made it to 1000ft above take off and 2 hr flights.
Hang Glider guys deemed us inferior.
Called us "paradiddlers"
Prob the same deal works between Skiers and Snowboarders.
The wank#rs always like to have a go .
Inferiority complex runs deep !

That's rivalry not inferiority. I was a paraglider pilot for years too, my favourite memory is out thermalling a sailplane above Annecy by miles. I looked down to see him giving me the finger. He had 50:1 glide, I had 10:1, he didn't need the climb. I love that shit, it makes the world go round.

PS 1000 ft above take off is garbage, work harder.

Virtually no E hate on the trail in NZ.

I think its mostly the pedal guys who have never been passed by someone less fit than them in their life and some fat newbie woman blazes passed on an ebike them uphill upsets their fragile ego's!

"How dare they go faster than me uphill!"

Then there is the "you must earn your turns" crowd. The premise here is that mtb, in there minds, must have a component of paint or suffering to get you to the top of that hill. If you do not suffer enough, you do not deserve the down. Essentially If of you exceed a pre-set level of acceptable fun that is not acceptable. I call these people the fun police wandering around administering derision if the preset levels of fun are exceeded.

Then there's the "it's a motorcycle, it's a motorcycle" crew. Even thought the governments of the world have all classified them as assisted bicycles.

Around here (Derbyshire and the Peaks) emtbs have ousted MTBs. There was hate only a couple of years back, but them hills are going to catch up with you someday. And don't forget a hard climb on an emtb is an impossible climb on a meat bike (unless you're a pro rider, which most aren't).

On our easy trails (High Peak, Tissington, Monsal and Manifold) I think it's great that couples (especially the over 50s) are now out on ebikes enjoying the countryside, something they probably wouldn't do otherwise, or even consider.

I've also noticed 'roadies' are now acknowledging you exist around here...... something that never happened only a few years back.
