Defending a corporate company, fleecing and taking advantage of users and charging said users for SAFETY upgrades to a motor vehicle! WTF? How is that NOT illegal!
Specialized are not charging for the upgrade. Independent shops are. Shops that are not part of Specialized. Free market economy in action right there.

Just done a ride with the new firmware. It’s now way smoother, I mean waaaaay ssssoother. Had eco set at 30 30 and it was like silk, super natural, like am I on an ebike ? Smooth.
After the 5km commute to the trails I was able to run 90% of them in trail. Now set at 80 80, as opposed to the 70 , max Mc60 of the old which imo was not enough so I had to run everywhere in turbo 100 100.
And the few big hills I used the turbo 100 100.
Usual 25km round trip used 40wh less juice. Cause now I can run in trail 80 80 and not turbo all the time. Yet I got turbo when needed.
Did I tell ya how smoother the power delivery was now. It’s smooth.
I used to have Acceleration set on eco of old anyhows, but it’s now smoother and responsive.

Thanks for this real world actual review! Did you have the battery firmware upgraded too?

Yeah battery new fw 10.23.1 and new app. I can now set it all to suit my riding. I used to run Acceleration in eco anyhow as I never really felt much of a difference between it and race.
The power delivery now must just roll on a lot slower, more in pace with the rider input. It all just feels smoother and more natural now. More noticeable in the eco compared to trail and turbo. But even these modes are smoother. I really don’t feel as much like I’m on an ebike anymore, but it leaves me wanting nothing in the power delivery. I feel like i’m riding a normal bike, but my heart and muscles have had a major upgrade.

I have not experienced these apps, but I know my bike, and it’s changed for the better.
Maybe Spesh want to try and make these obsolete, not that Wil happen. But they are trying, by opening up their adjustability a bit.

I agree. @outerlimits has a world’s first here :p, good to see feedback from what its actually like to ride with the new software. Seems like from his first ride it’s improved on what we had before.

Hit social media as well; FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, anywhere Spesh has a presence, especially if they are pushing eBikes on that medium.

How are they exempt? Are you saying they are unable to get the upgrade? Or are you assuming that everyone will forgo the upgrade because they may have to pay?

Because anyone who got a bike as a gift (bought by someone else for example) or moves home, or buys directly from specialized.com Is unequivocally EXEMPT from FREE safety and security upgrades.

If the bike was as bought by a family member at xmas / birthday etc in THEIR local store (not yours) and given to you on xmas day etc... YOU ARE EXEMPT FROM FREE SAFTY AND SECURIT UPDATES (but never told of this)

If it was bough the direct from spcialized.com the same applies.

IF you move home after buying a bike, the same applies.

It's not difficult to understand?
I'm baffled that's you can't comprehend this simple point.
There are people here currently living and expereicmng this realty right now. I know it doesn't affect you, but that doesn't make it not real for us.

A prime exampe is this. I bought my car from another country ... another COUNTRY!
But I can still take it to ANY BMW garage ANYWHERE in the U.K. for updates, warranty, etc FREE no matter where the Hell I chose to live!

Why can't I take my Specialized bike to any actual "SPECIALIZED" store.. I'm not talking LBS I'm taking Actual specialized stores or even specialised authorised stores.

Specialized are not charging for the upgrade. Independent shops are. Shops that are not part of Specialized. Free market economy in action right there.

Again INCORRECT!
If I take my bike to an ACTUAL Specialized Store THEY WILL CHARGE ME TOO. Only the Specialized storeTHEY chose to ship it from on their mail order website will support it. And they DONT ship it from your nearest Specialized store, they ship it from one of 30 or so in the country who have what you want in stock and then deliver it to you at your hone.

If the ONLY store that can provided safety upgrades for free, is the same store you buy the bike from (and no other country wide specialised store) this should be noted at POS and plastered all over the website.

"If you chose cto buy a bike dirtkynin our soecialized.cim website and pay online you will be required to travel to wherever the hell we decide to ship it from or pay for all future updates"

Like a car, it should be any official BMW garage can do this free... but any non BMW garage can charge.
specialized sell bikes ONLINE giving those,of us in this situation NO FREE UPDATES EVER!

In outerslimits case, even if he now lived (which he doesnt) 5. minutes away from an actual specialized store, and bought a £9000 Sworks THEY WOULD STILL TELL HIM TO DRIVE 500km round trip OR PAY!

And that's physical brick and Mortor actual "specialized stores" not an independent LBS.

Imagine buying a new car, you pay £35000 for the car. You buy it from BMW Land's End (as that's the only one in blue in the country) you pay via bank transfer / credit card / debit card etc via online or phone.

They deliver your brand new car to you in 10 days.

The day after you receive It, you receive a notice stating they have removed some features due to safety concerns and you have to drive the car to LandsEnd to get it upgraded.
You are telling me that you would accept this and would drive to lands end from john o'groats for an upgrade or would pay every time they upgraded even though you now live next door to an official BMW garage?

You are telling me if you go shopping in London and buy a shirt from Boss, that when you get back home from your weekend shopping trip and find out the shirt has an issue, you would go back to your holiday destination in London to get the shirt fixed rather than go to the boss shop in Leeds?

You are saying if you buy a car in London (when you live there) and move to Ireland with work, that you would take your car back to London for updates rather than Expect BMW to just offer the service at their bearers garage? (Which by the way... they do... that's EXACTLY how it works, but from BMW means you can still move house and receive feee safety upgrades)

Imagine your logic on a world wide scale (like Audi / VW / Toyota) you will see the logic and data follow my logic not yours.

The manufacture says "Take it to your nearest OFFICIAL BMW etc dealer and we will fix it" not drive our unsafe car the length of 2 country's to fix a error we made in the software? :) come on mate, you are really being rediculous suggesting this is ok!

And now this DOM! Just like I said! Now we have members getting charged for updates at the shops that SOLD them the bike? Would you look at that! EVERY SINGLE POINT I MADE HAS BECOME A REALITY FOR SOME RIDERS IN UNDER 24hours!

Yet you still defend them?

The point still stands? I bought my product from specialized.com which selected the Specialized store that had the the stock. The store not only users the name/branding/colours/font etc of specializeds entire public facing brand/logo etc many are owned and operated by "Specialized Conecpt Store"

Looking at details quickly on companies house and historically it looks like was an alliance between failing LBS and Specialized franchising them into "Specialized Concept Stores" and allowing them to licence/use the branding.

it looks like anyone can join the franchise (like McDonald's) but at this point we are getting into weird McDonald's territory.

For example, There are only a handful of actual McDonald's restaurants in the entire U.K (officially owned and operated by McDonald's restaurants) the rest are franchises.
Does this mean if I have a bad burger at one McDonald's the voucher I receive can only be redeemed at that McDonald's. of course not.

They give you a ticket you can use at any McDonald's as they know you are likely passing though on a motorway at 3am and don't live there. The fact that they are NOT owned and operated by McDonald's doesn't negate the fact they are indeed still McDonald's.

So again, I understand what you are saying, but if I go to specialized.com, buy a bike, it finds one at a Specialized Conceot Store (that's owned and operated by Specialized Conceot Stores) they tell me pay online. They deliver the bike from the warehouse and now I must travel 900miles round trip to get a FW upgrade rather than just take it to the Specialized Conept Store (owned and operated by Specialized Concept Stores) 100 miles away?

Come on ... don't be silly :)

In the car world when an update is needed it doesn’t matter what dealership they go to as long as the vehicle is under full warranty the dealer charges the manufacturer for the technicians time. I can’t see Specilaized handling this any differently so contacting them to find a participation dealer is an option to paying out of pocket right away.

But as you pointed out ... they didn't sell me my bike :) they told me to contact the store I bought it from? I said I literally have NO idea where this bike came from, I ordered it online at specialized.com and UPS delivered it the next day, it was from a web purchase from their online store at specialized.com.

I explained this earlier!

Being charged for an update is not the same as being exempt from an upgrade. Claiming you are exempt implies you are not eligible for updates and this is plainly not the case.
It also appears that one member is getting his updates free.

Are updates mentioned anywhere in the sales brochures? Or on the Spesh website? If they are mentioned, does it say, in clear language, that they are free?

You didn't read it thoroughly again Dom :)
I said exempt from FREE upgrades, come on bro... Read it man, save this silliness for someone else.

Updates are NOT mentioned when buying online as I already wrote 9 times. If it was I WOULD NOT HAVE PLACED THE ORDER IF I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE EXEMPT FROM FREE UPGRADES BY BUYING DIRECT ONLINE... Come on man, it's all there?

You are dragging this over old ground every time and getting wrong again and again and again... come on man.

I have a chameleon blue/black Comp Carbon Small! Bought direct from specialized.com and delivered to my door due to low stock, now I can't get FREE updates because I bought direct? I was NOT informed of this, had I been I would of got my LBS to order the bike instead. buy by doing this they are essentially saying my bike is unsafe unless I pay! (Removal of an "unsafe" feature/features in the future)

I get that it doesn't affect you, but it doesn't make it not Real Man, and please read everything before replying with more incorrect statementes, and mixed up messages and wrong assumptions etc. For everyone's sanity!

You’re not reading my posts properly because they aren’t sycophantically agreeing with you.

I asked where firmware updates are mentioned and does it specifically say free? Answer me that if you would be so kind.

Ok sorry if i misunderstood you but I at specialized.com all I can find is a dealer list which includes all spesh dealers in the uk including Evans where I bought my bike. On giving them a call they confirmed they will do my upgrade for free. What I meant was if you give spesh a ring and explain your situation they may recommend a local to you facility that will do the update for free
just trying to help mate!
