Hi everyone, I am a short time with my turbo Ievo comp carbon 2018. Configured with the previous App in Eco 5%, trail 25% and turbo 100% ... I accompanied friends with a physical training far superior to mine and besides making a much longer course, in a much shorter time, do not delay them !! We made 88 Km and arrived with 50% battery, very good, excellent bike. I am waiting for my locsl representative to receive the cables to update the FW. I am very curious about the behavior and consumption after the upgrade.

Hey! I chatted with the developer of BLEvo. Unfortunately there will be NO acceleration settings for anyone that have updated the FW to X23

I managed an extra 500ft of climbing (on the new motor\battery firmware) on my first ride.
Support 80/85/100 with Peak 70/80/100

Will continue to experiment

NEUE MISSION CONTROL APP 1.2 MIT INFINITE TUNE FEATURE

What are the benefits of Infinite Tune?

  • As the name implies, you have almost unlimited possibilities to customize the engine characteristics to your personal preferences and needs.
  • Enjoy the freedom to customize your Levo / Kenevo exactly as you need it for your riding style, terrain and desired performance or range.
When will Infinite Tune be available and how can I use it?

  • Infinite Tune is part of the new Mission Control version 1.2, so first install the update on your smartphone.
  • Infinite Tune additionally requires a firmware update of the battery to version X.23, details about the new firmware can be found here .
  • Please note that due to a new communication protocol within the X.23 firmware, third-party apps connected to your bike may no longer be compatible. Using third-party apps is also not recommended.
What causes the change of peak power (previously called max motor current)?

  • Peak power controls the maximum power that the engine can pull out of the battery when the rider is pedaling very hard.
  • Lowering the peak power limits the maximum engine power, but noticeably improves the range because power peaks that consume relatively much energy are avoided.
What is the difference between support and peak performance?

  • Support: The engine amplifies the power that puts the driver on the pedal. With 100% support, the rider input is increased by a factor of 3.2. With 50% support, the power the rider puts on the pedal is increased by a factor of 1.6. Thus, you can control with the parameter support by what factor the engine strengthens the driver's power.
  • Peak Power : The Peak Power parameter allows you to regulate how much power the engine maximizes in the peak. Assuming an engine can temporarily deliver a maximum of 500 watts, then at 100% peak power it will reach this limit with the corresponding input from the rider. With 50% peak power, the maximum is reached with 250 watts of support, the engine does not contribute more power, no matter how hard you pedal. Thus one can determine even the limit for turbo, trail and eco mode.
Accelerometer sensitivity

This parameter is no longer present in Mission Control 1.2 because the "Race" setting may have an effect that was perceived by many drivers as irregular engine support. To prevent this effect, the parameter is now fixed to "Eco".

The following graphics explain the difference between the old setting and the new Infinite Tune options. They also visualize the effects of adjustments on support and peak performance in trail mode.

A) Motor current settings with battery firmware X.22 (before Infinite Tune)

  • Peak performance by default at par with support (when maximum motor current regulator is set to 100%)
  • All three modes are clearly separated
  • The driver can not achieve full turbo power (maximum engine support) in trail mode
grafik_a.png

B) Infinite tune settings with battery firmware X.23.0 or higher

  • For each mode, the support and peak power can be set as desired
    • here: Trail 70% with 100% peak performance
  • Conclusion: With more power on the pedals, the rider in Trail can achieve the same engine assistance as in the turbo
grafik_b.png

C) Infinite tune settings with battery firmware X.23.0 or higher

  • For each mode, the support and peak power can be set as desired
    • here: Trail 50% with 70% peak performance
  • Conclusion: The driver can get the same engine power as the standard setting, but has to press more watts into the pedals
grafik_c.png

The Mission Control app works exclusively for the models Levo and Kenevo. The models Vado and Como are not supported by the new app.

Thanks for this info James!! now easy to understand, should be able to custom set how I like. dropped bike off to have firmware and service.

I was on a group ride yesterday and, I don't know why, but this is still with old battery firmware, but my iPhone has infinity tune without being able to set total engine power.
and in eco at 20% if I slow then peddle quick, it seems to get a hard hit up in Torque like it's in turbo, but soon after goes back to like 20%.
I have noticed this happening since phone just auto changed to infinity tune. it just has the ability to set eco, trail & turbo & set total engine % not individual total engine % so looking forward to seeing how it feels with new firmware.

also on group ride Wednesday, half of us road along a beach, other half that don't feel confident over sand, took a longer trail route. was another friend on a turbo levo with 29" wheels, I was only one with 27.5 x 3.0" tyres and I could ride up beach more in soft sand to avoid salt spray from harder wet sand close to the water. a few commented they could never have followed me & impressed by the 27.5 x 3.0" tyres

I agree the functionality is there if I use this app. The issue here is the app cost £10 and "potentially" voids my warrenty. They do state NOT to use 3rd party apps and if the derestriction feature of that app is used in any (even accidentally) your warranty is void also.
As a REP is coming on these forums, and for example you mention in your videos you derestricted your bike then your entire warranty is void. I'd rather not pay £10 and potentially lose my warranty.

I disagree entirely as does every other market that currently requires firmware upgrades. I bought my car from a garage in another country, but I can go back to ANY authorised BMW dealership to get firmware updates FREE! Just recently we had new voice activation features added, a security fix for keyless entry, and additional phone support. I took it to a dealer they did it, no cost. They will never charge me for FW upgrades as if someone has an accident its on them! if the dealers says we offer it free and user never took it, it's on user!

They say in the update it was removed for safety reason as it was delivering too much / irregular power and wasn't as smooth as other modes. Therefore it's technically being removed for safety reasons. They are charging users to ride a bike in either an UNSAFE mode or PAY to get the SAFTEY features upgraded. Disgusting. And people defending that, is beyond me?

It's not about if people agree with me, it's about how people accept a model moving forward. Right now the following things are being pushed on you, and noonr has issue with them?

Customer must Pay to remove features.
Customer must Pay for safety features.
Force the bike to function incorrectly/differently, to inconvenience those who don't want to upgrade (without notice/choice)
Void warranty of anyone who chooses not to upgrade and pays for a 3rd party app to get functionality back.
Remove features instead of adding features and leaving user choice (plus a notice)
Forcing new disfunctional default settings on all users without notification/advisory.
Charging users to upgrade the bike if they bought the bike mail order directly from specialized (NOT to save money, but because the only place that had a this size was specialized directly) and it was in their warehouse not in a store and I paid full price fir myself bike as I needed a small size.
Etc etc etc

Accepting that as a business model is not good?
That's worse than in app purchases and/or loot boxes.
If people are accepting of that model, it won't be long before you see it move to other places if it's accepted without resistance.
Your I OS devices need £10 every time they need a security upgrade,
or your PC needs an security update £10 please,
your car needs an safety update £10 please,
your laptop needs a safety update £10 please,
your router needs a security update £10 please,
your TV needs an update to disable a feature that's a security issue £10 please...
Your Ambon echo needs an update £10 please...

It's not about agreeing with me, it's about looking at what is happening to you! What they are doing is disgusting. Even then, it's not £10 these charlatans are wanting £15 per upgrade?

What if next week they say.
But in the new firmware causes engine to overheat. Here is 23.2 go get it upgraded people and you'll all need to pay another £15 ???

Wtf is wrong with people accepting these micro transactions in this format?
My mate at work bought his levo from leisure lakes and they want to charge him £25 to do the update he just spent £5000 with them!!! And if the update is paid for by Specialized they are taking the piss

Just for the record it took about 10mins in total from plugging in the bike to walking out the shop to do the update that was battery & motor

I spoke to a guy called Andrew from Specialized UK and he emailed me stating that shops will charge. He did state that specialized are associated with Concept stores and if you buy your bike from a concept store, and take it back to that concept store, then that store "may" not charge you for their time, but also, they "may".

He did state however, that all bikes shops are fully entitled for charging customers for the "time" that a member of staff takes to perform the upgrade, but they can not charge for the upgrade it's self.

So you will be paying around £10/£30 depending on your location as some shops charge less for their staff time. My local bike shop (which is a specialised authorised dealership) charge £60 per hour for any work performed on a bike that wasn't purchased directly from them (and charge in 30minute increments) and around £40 for those who did (who are out of warranty etc) so the cheapest I can upgrade my FW would have been £30

So while the shops (that are specialised authorised dealerships) are charging customers, they are not charging for the update directly, they are charging you for their time in doing it. Which is total bullshit in reality.

For what it's worth, I returned my Turbo Levo Carbon Comp and got a full refund and won't be shopping with specialized again. It's been a disgusting experience from beginning to end and considering I spent £4999 on a bike an around £900 on accessories. To be told shit like like this, I just can't invest into the eco system. It's not for me as I don't condone treatment like this, business models like this so I left. I'm also not the type of person who validates and enables this type of cuckery. I do understand that some people don't mind getting cucked etc but it's not me for, I'm more traditional.

I'm now looking at some other manufactures and emailing them with these questions directly.

I have collated a list of questions (18 in total) that I am sending to all the manufactures which I will Be posting on my Facebook page and Reddit showing their responses.

Most so far have stated what you would expect free updates and free warranty support etc. along with support for 3rd party apps etc.

All EXCEPT specialized!
They stated that shops (including all authorised retailers) can charge for their time to do the upgrade which can be in excess of £60 in some cases, Shops can also charge for time spent fixing a warranty issue that is at no fault to/by the User even if the store fixing it, is an authorised specialised dealership (SCS) where you purchased the bike from.

Shops can also charge for time taken to replace or repair warranty replacements of items that were faulty or failed their intended purpose or had a structural failure etc. And while specialised will replace the item she they WONT always pay the shop for their time to install it So the user would pay this charge or the authorised dealer would float it.

Other manufactures replied saying that they will refund the user or will pay the store directly, if the store state that a charge will be incurred to the user.

It's utterly disgusting how specialzied are treating their customers considering the expense of these items. I have emailed 3 companies so far (plus specialised) and they are the ONLY ones willing to screw their customers over in these cases presented above.

I've seen some awful, disrespectful customer service in my time. But ive never witnessed this, or even a customer base defending it like villho etc.? But I understand that that not all people react the same in some situations, some like to be dominated, humiliated etc and just blindly do whatever they are told, by whoever tells them, while others are more alpha/foreceful and have a higher standard for which how they expect to be treated. While I'm accepting of these differences, and I don't mock or have digs at those who enjoy being dominated, humiliated and are too scared to push back or just enjoy being a cuck or getting cucked etc, it seems they aren't so willing for others to have an opinion/view point that different, but betas will be betas.

So I returned my bike, got a full refund and, began a dialog with more manufactures and will make a more informed decision in the coming weeks of who to spend my money with.

Great bikes, from a company with the most abhorrent and disgusting morals I've seen in a long time.

All this will Be posted in r/ebikes along with the all the emails / email info names etc. from each manufacture. Specializeds if a fucking embarrassments thus far!

I literally can't believe what they have the balls to say/do/write in their emails.

Gosh... a true first world problem you have there mate

EDIT: If a LBS doesn't have Specialized dealership/contract, I wouldn't even assume them working for free. The situation is different, if we are talking about dealership, who would try to charge for work that should go under the warranty, but I assume that is not the case. We need to remember that firmware update may not be considered as warranty work - as to be honest, there is no actual warranty-related fault in the bike, so why wouldn't the bike shop be allowed to charge for their work? After all, the update itself is free.

Bikescene doesn't charge for updates or warranty work; those guys are outstanding.

They've replaced my battery, motor and switch without questions.

I’ve had a free upgrade to an Expert Levo because I had problems with my original bike. All updates and warranty work have been free of charge. I’ve got nothing but good things to say about how Specialized has treated me over the past year and of course my fantastic bike shop.

As usual Cyclone is too busy being a drama queen to check facts...

Remember, that as well as the manufacturer's warranty, a consumer also has statutory rights. Those are with the seller.

Section 23 of The Consumer Rights Act 2015 might be useful.
Amongst other things, that says:
23 Right to repair or replacement

(2) If the consumer requires the trader to repair or replace the goods, the trader must —

(a) do so within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to the consumer, and

(b) bear any necessary costs incurred in doing so (including in particular the cost of any labour, materials or postage).

I got the firm ware update on my two batteries . LBS did not charge for it

took bike for 22km ride seems to give more assistance than old software.
I road 25% eco in both eco setting went up hill's that if I wanted to go up at speed I was doing before. I would have needed more than 25%. so I turned eco down to 5%. will try it tomorrow.

I bought my bike from Evans they have just told me they will update my firmware for free
Concept store in bristol where i didnt buy my bike will do it for £10 which in my opinion is fair seeing as i didnt buy there.
Problem for me is neither of them can do it for two weeks, only takes 15 mins ffs!!

I think the fact that Specialized is not compensating their dealers for their time to complete the updates is kind of weird. If the firmware updates contain bug fixes or enhancements that add to the longevity of the bike causing less warrantable issues then Specialized are the benefactors.

I did not time it but was less than 10 minutes.

I received a new update to my bike yesterday, which I was completely unaware was available. So I am going to head out, test it today and see if it feels different.

Unfortunately, as I didn't get to test my bike on any trails in the first 3 weeks (due to some teething problems) I was only able to ride around the local park/roads etc so I will only be able to give general "day to day" "commuter" style feedback and not trail feedback, but perhaps this will be useful to some?
