Magura brakes

Had magura brakes fitted to my levo on Saturday. I was told by the shop this would take 2 and a half hrs so have some breakfast come back and they will be done, 7 hrs later I had to leave with the bike( shop closing) both brakes don’t work. What would you suggest I do ??
Some pictures of the bike after the work is this ok? The bike is brad new.

The bike store is over 80 miles round trip so booked it in for a Saturday. I was told by the shop this would only take 2hrs and the shop closed at 5 had to leave with the bike as the shop was closed the next day and the mechanic is of for the rest of the week.

Should your new bike look like this after magura brakes being fitted?
7 hrs I waited in the shop for they told me it was a 2 hr job never mentioned dropping the motor and rear triangle.
Back brake doesn’t work at all, the front judders
And knocks.
I’ve got to take it back today from work 80 miles and pick it up on Saturday another 80 miles.
This cost £500 should I get discount?

The slightly damaged/scratched screws are normal after a modification. If the mechanic handles the screws with care, they could look better than this, but I think this is OK.
The scratches on the frame aren't OK.
The adjustingpin for the pressurepoint on the last photo isn't installed right. The head of the pin should be on the upper side. It's not a problem, but a mechanic should know this.

But... the MT7 does a great job.

I’m just after some advice! Is this what you should expect from getting your brakes fitted? It took the fitter 2hrs just to straighten the discs, 3 hrs to bleed the back and it still doesn’t work.

No, never.
I think there is still air in the system and the brakes must be vented again.
It's not the easiest job with the magura brakes and sometimes takes more tries to get the entire air out.

I think that must be £500 fixed price for the front and rear MT7's and Magura disks including installation.

I guess you don't know what happened on the day. Yes, it's definitely not right. But either they ran into some unforeseen problems with the brakes/bike when they were installing. Or some other problem came along and the mechanic ended up doing that as a priority and unfortunately yours got pushed along and he didn't have time to finish it.

It's a bit unfortunate that they didn't complete the job before closing up and going home.

You probably have to give them some benefit of the doubt and give them the opportunity to make it right/finish the job properly. You've then been without the bike for a week and had to make and extra trip, so they should take that into account on pricing/future discount/something else from the shop to compensate you.

Alternatively,if you don't want to go back, you fix it/finish it yourself and learn a lot in the process.

Seriously, if my bike came back looking like that I would have the owner bailed up until all the hardware was replaced.
The test bike I rode before I bought my Scott had the motor dropped 7 or 8 times to steal parts for quick warranty fixes and the nuts & bolts looked 100% better than that.

3-1/2 hours at my local last week working on a Focus Jam2 got me:

- Front and rear brakes and discs changed (to Magura MT7 Pro's and discs)
- E6000 controller, Di2 derailleur and shifter fitted - they had a software problem and ended up with Shimano remoting into the bike via their laptop to get everything 'talking' to each other - works seamlessly now!
- replaced std dropper with Fox Transfer & Wolf Tooth lever (Magura mount)
- New 35mm bar and stem mounted
- 1 year service (not much to do as I replaced half the bike...LOL)
They ended up dropping the motor and battery out to get everything fitted, even took photos to show me.

So yeah, I think there maybe a problem with the competency of they staff at your local bike shop.

The price was for disks and brakes fitted.
I waited in the shop for 5hrs watching the lad work, I didn’t see the damage until I got the bike home.

The bike is brand new done 200 miles on flat road no mountains by me.

That's a shit job, how do you wreck the head of every bolt, even low torque ones. Chain guide fitted wrong(maybe, looks quite different to my kenevo), brake clamp fitted wrong(top bolt should be tight with no gap). Magura are a pita to bleed though, spent a week on mine before.

You have damages. Those stressed-out Allen fasteners are ruined and unsafe. The bike shop needs to make it right or you should sue via small claims court. If someone did that to my ride, it would have got real ugly. I also suggest watching all the Park Tools instructional videos and learn how to maintain and upgrade your own bikes.

Bike is back in the shop until Saturday, new bolts ordered magura brakes coming off and mine going back on.
Never step foot in Any of there shops again!!!
Mechanics are not trained to any standards!!!

Good luck with a new mechanic but don't give up on the Magura's though, they are great upgrade!

Those that run a bigger chainring, 'turn' the chain guide, to allow for the increase in diameter.. that said if you are running an original chainring, it's not, as stock..
