M820 + CEF50 Dream Bike Build

Howdy from Canada.
I've been on the fence about e-bikes but finally decided over the winter I would build a bike I've always wanted. I'm very new to this hobby and excited for what 2024 holds...

Bikes I considered: Trek Fuel EXe 5 and Giant Trance X
Purpose of the bike: Jack of all trades commuter bicycle that is durable, light and legal.

Battery: 48V / 700wh
Ah = 700 wh / 48 V = 14.58 Ah
Then using this tool I should get around 42 km (super hilly) - 70 km (flat) for a average of 56 km.

Your stated goal "Jack of all trades commuter bicycle" does not match your parts list which is a for a hard core mullet enduro bike. A mullet enduro is designed to go downhill not be a good commuter.

I researched for months on this and decided to just over build it and offset the weight penalty with carbon bits...

The problem is that the geometry is very different for the different use case. A Enduro rider is going downhill most of the time. So the geometry is "tilted" back so you aren't hanging over the handlebars as you go down. The smaller rear wheel adds to this effect. Great if you are an enduro rider. But if you are a commuter or trail rider this geometry does not make sense. So if you go this route you need to be an Enduro rider most of the time.

Alibaba seller told me the carbon battery case is coming at the end of the month and carbon cranks should be available this week. This should be a > 100g weight savings :]

My understanding is that it will come with the frame. He ordered it with the frame.

Did more and more research ebikes, the weight of all the components I was going to put on the frame, my ideal use cases and I decided that I want more torque.

I think the M820 with some 27.5" rims, lightweight suspension and a cargo box would be perfect for the gig economy and puttering about the city...

I'm trying to chase the thrill of my motorcycle but e-bike and bicycles are insane >.>
