There maybe some mud and grit in there, but it sounds like your motors drive pulley is rubbing on the belt cover. Basically, before going around in circles. Your motor is poorly, one way or another it will have to be looked at, replaced or repaired. How it happened and exactly what has happened can probably only be determined with an internal examination. If you can get warranty great If not, you know where we are.
