Looking for details regarding motor replacement price and warranty

Following on from an earlier question that was answered with reference to the bosch motor. I'm interested to hear the replacement cost and warranty on the other big motor brands (brose, shimano and yamaha)

The question is this... if a motor needs replacing outside of warranty, what is the rough cost and what warranty is supplied with the new unit?

I'm still on the fence with getting an ebike but it simply boils down to cost so been looking at second hand as an option. If a motor was sub 1k and came with a 2 year warranty, that would make buying used far more viable as that would mean a further 2 years without having to pay for a motor replacement/repair.

Thanks in advance

around £900
and a new unit will come with a 2yr warranty.

i wouldn't ever consider a second hand Emtb. A decent warranty is invaluable. (not just on the motor)

What is there to go wrong apart from motor and battery? If they both have a warranty, you're fairly well covered in my opinion. Let's face it, components ware out and and need replacing and suspension requires servicing, neither of which are very costly or much hassle to sort. I'd happily buy a used normal bike

you serious?
are you new to mtb?

Nope, maybe I'm one of the lucky ones that's never had any problems aside from general wear and tare stuff. Please do enlighten me as to what could go so very wrong? You saying you wouldn't buy a used normal bike?

Me too.
crack a frame on a "normal" bike and you can pick and choose from hundreds of new and used replacement frames. This just isn't a thing for Emtb

That's very true, are frame warranties not transferable? I thought that something like a specialized stump jumper with a lifetime warranty was transferable to new owners?

I'm not sure on spesh but no other frame warranty is transferrable to a second owner

Weigh it up though. and see if it's worth the risk to you. It 100% isn't for me (and more importantly, how I ride)

Just had a quick look and specialized is transferable to a second owner but only for 2 years from the date of original purchase. It's certainly food for thought and something I hadn't considered

What !!!
Do you even ride Mtb ?
In the last 3 years I’ve claimed warranty on a cracked frame, rock shock CSU, Monarch shock scored dampener shaft, motor, dropper post, rear mech, snapped rear hub axle and a rear wheel.

Easy there peaty. Sit back, grab a beer and chill. Maybe we don't all send it as hard as you. I've been riding on and off for around 16 years. I've done some reasonable size features in the past but to date, never had any issues baring the usual maintenance and ware and tare stuff. Maybe I'm just lucky, who knows. This explains my question though.
With the riding I do nowadays, i can't see I'm going to be cracking any frames any time soon, that being said, as has been pointed out, if that does happen with an e bike, it's not like I can just replace the frame easily

No wonder they cost so much to buy!

Oh, so you are buying a ebike, not an eMtb. We’ll all do that one day and hang up the full face.

Chill brother,.. shit maybe you need a manpon to mop up after getting all cut. ?‍♂️ Hang in there bro, maybe you just going through a phase. Go unleash, don the full face and go cut some sic laps, and all your worries will disappear ?
