The Magura brakes are phenomenal when they are working as they should. I actually had these laying around after pulling them off my Enduro last time I was in Angel Fire. The Maguras seem to struggle with changing major altitude (driving from Austin to the mountains for instance), so I got sick of bleeding them when I got to my destination and bought some Code RSCs for the Enduro and had AF bike shop install them.

The Maguras are actually probably a better brake than even the codes when they’re working, and since this bike will be mostly ridden here in Austin, I figured I would put them on. They have been great this time around and my mechanic took some extra classes around properly bleeding them, so they are top notch. Tons of power and modulation. I can wheelie better than ever with the maguras.

The pivot bars are a lot lighter, but they’re probably a bit more stiff than the stock ones as well while damping things a bit with the carbon. I had the bars lying around and used some Amex points to get the stem for free off amazon, but I really like the stem. Short of going Carbon stem I cant see how any of the main manufacturer stems are any better than this one and it was like $42 bucks or something.

Don’t know haven’t weighed it, not sure it actually matters my goal was to build a bike i liked to ride.

The standard brakes, forks and drivetrain are an embarrassment for this cost of a bike so they had to be replaced.
Agreed. I asked because your build is similar to mine and I dropped 6lbs by getting rid of nx drivetrain and wheels for my light build. My heavy build adds 4 lbs with coil shock and burly wheels and tires

Report back on the Era! If it’s anything like the storia, it’s going to be pretty slick.

Measured you hta? Curious where you are at. With similar setup I am at 63.6 or so

Have you had time to ride yet? The angle of the seat tube looks really gentle. You almost sit on the rear axle

FWIW - that's the one downside (I am also at 170mm with CC link and mulleted). I have an Ergon Enduro saddle with extra long rails slammed as far as I can go fwd. It mitigates the slack STA a bit.

Ha yes it does. I’ve slammed the seat forwards, but climbing will not be its strong suit, or really what I ride for anyway.
I have 29 wheel with the same cassette and rotor so I can slap that in for trail riding.

I have the Era and Storia on my Enduro, which I love, I know how amazing they are.
I reckon that HTA sounds about right.

Did you get a longer rear shock when you mullet your SL? Or changing the flip chip to high is enough?

No - Stock length. I have the cascade link, which makes the bike more progressive, but move the shock yoke closer to touching the seatstay bridge at full compression. Right now, I have it in "high" with a 650b rear wheel and 50% offset bushing (custom asked for the bushing to be less off center by 50%). So, I am in the middle between "lo" and "high" mode of the stock bike. I think I could get away with a 55mm stroke with how I have it now. Definitely if you have the stock linkage, but the cascade link is very good.

HTA is ~ 63.6. BB is ~ 340mm. Fork is at 170mm. It rides like an enduro bike, but it's still fairly nimble. I am eager to see how it compares to my incoming Kenevo SL.
