Just watching a DJI vs Bosch video on YouTube which talk a bit about the future of ebike motors & at the very end they slide a riders view of an upcoming non DJI or Bosch powered bike & say “but we can’t talk about this bike as it’s under embargo”. Looked very similar to the silver bike spied previously in this thread.

The video is called DJI vs Bosch why are the major brands hesitating.

It’s not the new Levo I’m afraid.

Let’s just fast forward to whenever the Gen 4 breaks cover;

“What a lame release, Amflow/DJI better in every area, total fail by Specilaized”.

“Spesh have knocked it out of the park, ordered!”.

“Ok bike, but at that price they can shove it, ordered a Boardman from Halfords…”.

“Strokes Gen 3 Levo with £15k of upgrades whilst shaking head at price of new S-Works”.

“Doesn’t have a 1037Wh side removable and self charging battery that I need for my regular 10 hour loops, so I’m out”.

“Doesn’t have more power than my KTM MotoX bike, so I’m out”.

“Is the Gen4 motor and battery retrofit compatible with the Gen3? If not, the usual shoddy treatment of customers who love Spesh”..

Etc etc! 😏😂

in standard tune the Bosch CX gen4 needs a relatively high cadence..ie 70+. I ride with a mate on a Levo and it is clear he achieves the same amount of assist as me at 70 at c 50. That was until I used the Flow app to tune the motor response. Now I get good power assist at really low cadence and it stays strong right up to 85.(I dont know if the Bosch gen5 is any different in that respect). I would be very reluctant to use a bike with any other motor if it could not match how my motor responds having done the tuning in the Flow App

do you even bike at 50 rpm?! its still called mountainbiking…

I haven't seen anything regarding which cells they use but DJI batteries are 200g lighter than the new Bosch power tubes like for like. They are both 36V. My hunch is that the cell configuration will be the same to achieve that voltage with similar capacities, so DJI either has a very light hardware design or they have smaller lighter cells and are running them harder in a wider window perhaps.
so far the dji batteries are internal only, so need a less heavy housing. the bosch ones are also removable so need a more durable housing

Dont forget this new Gen 4 was already to go last year, then the DJI came out and it got pulled. Been told this morning from local store its not bum on a seat until early Q2, Spz still have a lot of current bikes to move, and they are selling at the discount prices.

I used to work at a bike shop and we made shit up and told customers what they wanted to hear - they loved it

They would have had even more bikes to move last year had the Gen 4 been released then, surely?

Or, are you saying that when they delayed the Gen 4 ‘cos DJI’ that they went and over manufactured a load of Gen 3 Levo’s in response that they now need to sell before they can release the Gen4?!

My tongue in cheek comments will apply to whenever they release the Gen4 anyway.

If I were Specialized, I’d call it the Gen5 now, just for fun…

Talk on another forum of Specialized closing some offices and smaller warehouses in Canada & US respectively. They might be in a spot of bother.

I got tired of waiting and ordered a Crestline frame, only downside is it’s being delivered to my dad’s house in the US. I won’t be visiting the US again until the end of May so I’ll just be collecting parts until then.

According to reliable rumors Specialized G4 which will leave Amflow in the dust is available in all shops in the beginning of May.

The Levo for sure will be a higher quality frame but the e-system will not leave Dji in the dust (not even close).
Also, the cost of the Levo with the same spec is MUCH higher than Amflow.
The main thing though is by May you will see at least 2 very high quality bikes with Dji Avinox, which will not make Speciaziled life easy.

I think the Levo will be for a few elite and the DJI for the masses......

I don’t know about that. A few posts later, the employee who lost his job at the Spcialized D2C location said that the closures were part of a consolidation effort:

From what I can gather, almost all D2C and online fulfillment will eventually be consolidated into that massive warehouse in SLC they picked up roughly a year or so ago. Along with many other things like all warranties, wheel/suspension services, and their internal schooling.

If Anflow bring out there Enduro Bike with its DJI Motor around the same time as this Gen 4, Spz will be on the back foot IMO.

I'm not a DJI fanboy but just wondering how the Specialed will leave the Amflow in the dust? All the current motors (DJI, Bosch, Brose, etc...) can put out more power than the software allows and there are already rumors of Bosch releasing a new update that will put it over 100Nm when the new screen is available.

I think the Specialed will be on par with whats currently available and at this point will not be the game changer it could have been a year ago.
